Thread: British man faces death penalty in UAE for 20g of cannabis

Selling drugs (so to speak) in the UAE deserves special recognition. Maybe someone could contact the people who do the Darwin Awards.

This might be the first one that was not awarded posthumously.

I don't think homosexuals "suffer" from homosexuality anymore than heterosexuals suffer from heterosexuality. And I don't think cannabis will turn you from either into the other.

I know a lot of people don't agree with me on this, but we're all entitled to our own opinions (at least for now). I don't see the harm in weed any more than alchohol (i.e use not abuse) so 20g of erb (3 or 4 days weed for a heavy smoker) is surely not worth death. I don't feel sorry for the guy as you reap what you so and he had to of known the risks, but I think the law's fucked up to meet out such a punishment. However, when it comes to synthetically made drugs which destroy peoples brains quickly, ruin families and economies and have only negative effects on society - I'd certainly stop short of the death sentence, but simply set punishments which eradicate 99% of use as it's not even worth thinking about it.

Albert- One thing is for sure. If they follow the punishment for dealing drugs, HE WILL NOT DO IT AGAIN.

This CRIME didn't happen in the western world. The Middlle East have different punishments than the liberal west. I'm not real sure you can fathom this, but he sold to a COP. DUH!

Obviously shooting, hanging, locking up does nothing to solve the problem as every week their are several new death row candidates regretting they have been caught. It does make you think about how many make it a going business and the profits to be made being a mule.

Is it 1 out of 10, 100 or a 1000 who get caught?

Why not execute all the Old Bill, whenever there's trouble they always seem to be at the centre of it..

I have no problem with the death penalty. I'd like to impose it en masse on the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iran and most other Muslim centres of insanity and fundamentalism.

While Lees's case file describes him as an 'electrician', he seems to have had no regular job and no education beyond secondary school.

Asked on the social networking website MySpace whether he wanted to go to college, he replied: 'LOL [laugh out loud]. Just ask if I want to goto [sic] a 4 year party instead.'

Lees' cases file shows he has previously had contact with the local police and showed a prior charge of possessing drugs.

On his MySpace profile he wrote: 'In the past month, have you been on drugs?" he asks himself.
'If I had access to drugs, would I be on MySpace?' is his reply.

When he was questioned on his first thoughts when waking up, Lees wrote: 'F---, where did I put my pipe.'
