Police seize B40m in pills

PATHUM THANI : Police have seized 202,000 speed pills worth 40 million baht and arrested a man on a drug trafficking charge.

Wutthikrai Wongsang, 26, was nabbed at the car park of a hypermarket in Pathum Thani's Khlong Luang district yesterday as he was allegedly about to deliver the drug to a customer.

The drugs were tightly wrapped in plastic bags and hidden in two black bags. The suspect claimed he was unaware that he had been hired as a drug courier.

He was paid 2,000 baht by a man identified only as Bass to deliver "car spare parts" to a customer.

Police also seized a pickup truck and two mobile phones from the suspect.

Pol Maj Gen Khamronwit Thoopkrajang, acting commander of Metropolitan Police Region 1, said the speed pills were destined for distribution in Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan and the targets were workers scattered in industrial estates.

He said police were told to keep a close watch on drug trafficking activities which were rampant during the Songkran festival.
