Are the border runners really out of luck?

Given what we know at this time about the immigration rule changes, what is the best way to stay in Thailand for a year and be able to repeat for successive years?

Suppose I do not want to go the retirement route and be required either to show 800,000 baht in the bank or 65,000 baht per month (even if I can).

And suppose I do not want to get married, or show 40,000 baht per month (even if I can) which removes the "marriage visa" possibility.

By "best" I mean least expensive, least hassle, most likely to succeed and so on... and I realize that it may not be possible to meet all of these requirements simultaneously.

    Is it still possible?

Depends where you live in Thailand, but as long as one visa out of every 3 is a tourist visa and not voa you shouldn't have any problems, ie 2 in out trips across your local border, then off to a Thai consulate for a single entry tourist visa for another 2 months stay, then extend for a month which costs 1,900baht, then back to 2 more in outs across any border, if you get married to a Thai you can still get Non imm "O" multi entries from singapore valid for a year so in theory you can do in outs for 364 days and on the last one get 4 more months with 1 visa extension, so 16 months before you have to worry about it again.

Thanks for bringing this up, again, and for the informative comment. Looks like I should be ok, I will have to bridge a few months later this year doing borderruns and stuff, rather apprehensive about being told to pack my bags and leave within 10 days or however long they'll give you.
