    30-day extend in Chiang Mai

What a pleasant surprise. I went to the Immigration office here in CM yesterday. When I arrived at noon they had closed the ticket line, but no worry ,while the office cleared out a Thai lady (name?) who spoke excellent English helped me fill out the form. Then I went over to the snack bar and ordered some food, pork (mu), vegetables pak and rice (kao). What I got was a heaping plate full of delic food, the bill 25TB. Try that at your local Denny's in CA. By that time I went back to the office, after a Brit helped me put my pic on the form, paid the money and waited. I knew they would have trouble pronouncing my name, so I was ready. The young Thai smiled and handed me the form (1:25) and I was on my way back in a Song Tao for 40TB. I'll take that trip anytime over a DMV office in Ca trying to register my truck, usual wait time 3 hours and many hassels> pay $113, smog permit, insurance form.

I have always had good service at CM, that is why I always drove up there until last year and they made me go to Nan, but they were super at Nan too, but now I still have to go to CM or BKK to get that useless letter of income, so it is an extra day no matter which way I go about it.

Thailand is a beautiful country, full of beautiful people (and food).

Enjoy the rest of your life here, it's a brilliant place to relax and spend a few decades.

Then again, compared to Yankerikkka, Kandahar would be a relief.
