^Show the fookers a foreign credit card!
surely you do not get cash from an ATM with a foreign credit card?? how stupid, really cost effective?? NOT
I have no problem showing them my bank books, no big deal.
I just hate the fookers!
No I don't use a credit card for money withdrawals.
This "rule" was changed back in May of 2013 and states that ALL embassy verification letters are good for 6 months from the date of issue.
This part is in english.
One other thing to be aware of; Nong Khai is using some wacky form that states IF you use an embassy letter to meet the financials, next year you also have to show proof of transferring in 65K per month too!
If you want the thai version of the rule change let me know and I'll post it.
Hmm, I closed all my thai bank accounts here several years ago, and ONLY pull money out from the US bank via the ATM card.
I guess if I were asked for proof of transferring my money into a thai bank account on a monthly basis I'd be stuck for sure.
The thing is, there is NOTHING written into ANY of the immigration rules that says if I use the embassy letter as verification of funds that I need to bring in even a single baht per month. For instance that Nong Khai immigration form I posted earlier is a totally made up b/s form.
Todd you know these monkeys make up their own rules to suit them, I believe in the rules it states and anything else the officer may require, and at my office 1 month rule applies, argue with the bitch and all she says is go home to your own country then?

It is located in the OTOP building.

Serves only Roi Et Province.
Extension to stay documents same as Amnat.
Sure nice for me as it saves the 250 km round trip to Amnat Charoen.

My Son arrives here next week and intends to stay while April , unfortunately they would only give him a single entry tourist visa in the UK! ,what is the best way to get an extension or a non immigrant O visa so he could change it to a retirement visa as he's had over a million baht in BKK bank since early July any suggestions would of course be gratefully received
piwanoi
He could show up, get stamped in for 60 days, go to the immigration office, apply for a 90 day, single entry Non-Immigrant Type-O visa based on being over 50 for 2000baht. It will go "under-consideration" for 14 days, then he goes back and gets the visa stamped into his passport and a new 90 day permission to stay stamp.
He would have to show proof that the money in the bank was transferred in from abroad (that's one of the requirements to get a Non-O inside the country). BUT there is no seasoning requirement on the money at this stage.
When he has 45 days or less left on the permission to stay, he goes back to the immigration office and applies for a yearly extension of stay based on being over 50 for 1900baht. The money in the bank would need to be seasoned 60 days seeing as it's his first yearly extension of stay.
Or at least that's how it works doing it at the Bangkok Immigration office.
There is also a new Immigration office up and running at Singburi it is at Wat Phra Non Chaksi GPS 14.852648-100.388339
Turn into the temple and go right at the roundabout the office is in the old OPEC building.
The boss there is from the Lop buri office as is one of the other staff, friendly helpful people....As long as you dont make trouble.
I want to ask ............... knowing well that this has probably already been answered a thousand times or more .
If I turn up at Soovarrnaboom I will get a 30 day visa . I think .
Nowadays can I renew that for a further 30 days without having to leave the country and come back ?
I'm asking because it suddenly seems a good idea to go out to Thailand for a while but it's a stupid time to apply for a visa in England . Christmas time , New Year , strikes ........ who knows when I would see my passport again ?
If I go it will be for 44 days.
Started reading all the guidance on here but I get bamboozled by the different experiences folks have had and by how regulations are applied . Or not applied .
So please --- can I simply turn up , get 30 days , then extend within Thailand ?
And if I can - can I do so in Korat ?
With appreciation .

First of all you don't get a 30 day "visa";
IF
you come from a G7 country and arrive here by air or land you get stamped in for 30 days on a "visa exempt entry" <- it has that catchy name because you didn't BUY a visa at a thai consulate before comin' here but because of your country of origin you were stamped in sans visa for a period of time.
As far as extending a visa exempt entry; yes you can. Since August 29th 2014 people who enter on a visa exempt entry stamp can apply for a 30 day extension of stay at the immigration office for 1900baht.
Just as an aside; IF you're gonna be in the UK, why not apply for a 60 day tourist visa at a thai consulate? They're free from Dec 1st, until Feb 28th at every thai consulate in the world.
Because if I'm going to Thailand it will be about 2 weeks from now ......... and with New Year closings and Trainline Strikes .... and railway maintenance works and all the uncertainness of this time of year I have no confidence I could get a visa in time .
I can't just walk into the Thai Consulate either .
I must book an appointment and I can only do that by telephoning on a Tuesday morning between 8 am and 9:30 and the line is permanently engaged .
If some unexpected Sunspot activity enables me to really get through to the consulate I will be assured that my phone call is very important to them and they'll play me some shit music and then after 20 minutes on a Premium cost phone line they will cut me off .
It would cost me far far more in money , time , exasperation and stress than paying 1900 Baht .
But thank you for the help .
Your response is very important to me .

And after the second 30 day extension you can extend again for 15 days and after that for a week, EH?Originally Posted by toddaniels
FALSE..
A visa exempt entry can be extended once for 30 days and once again for 7 days BUT as a rule to get the 7 day extension you must show proof of departing thailand within those 7 days.
FWIW: 60 day tourist visa entries are the same, you can extend it ONCE for 30 days and after that you can apply for the 7 day extension IF you can show you're leaving.
Just so you know ALL extensions of stay (no matter the duration of time they're granted for) cost the same 1900baht..
