I am assuming one's bank balance allows for standing orders or emergency withdrawals.
But I am sure many of us have forgotten due diligence in many areas of our lives.
They ask for a letter or pension company/ Government confirmation. I presume a bank statement or 3 may be accepted. They do state they accept no responsibility for errors. It's just an official embossed piece of paper demanded by another government official to ensure some revenue is generated and to cover their backs.
I happy with my ability to manage my accounts to suit any imposed rules. Happy to see you have the solution you have
Which is why the decrease in THB to GBP may have needed to be highlighted currently to some. As i said this is the first time I have been in a declining FX situation.
You old hands would not of course been worried at all. Until it's raised to a 1,000,000 THB, unexpectedly.
Yes already added another 100,000, just to be compliant. Once the extension is issued It'll be back to 500THB.
Yes that would be one solution although it increases the amount one has at risk in a Thai Bank and ignores the current directive that the "pension" monies, as accepted by the governments, can be utilised.

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
I've never made a deposit on the bank's letter date and never had a problem with that, though I did save a couple of bank fees over the last two extensions by learning that a bank letter is not required if you have an embassy letter confirming income. For my embassy-letter extension last week I didn't even need to present my bank book or a copy.
But as with much else, some flexirules rely on the bladder of your immigration officer.
Two completely different things here.
If your total ,800k, is to be shown to the embassy all you need is the embassy letter. But if you use the combo method then you need a bank letter stating what is in the account you use on the day you get the letter, that is why a financial transaction is required.
As I said I have been caught out with this and have had to go back to the bank make a deposit and get a new letter.
No problem if the bank letter is a day before the application.
As has been said already different immigration offices interpret things differently I can only state what I have to do for the immigration office I attend and the NZ Embassy.
That embassy requires to see proof of what I am declaring' for what I am being given is a legal document so if there is any questioning by immigration then the embassy can be held responsible, along with me, for providing a false declaration.
When I did my last application I asked about how do I show an up to date bank statement when I never touch that bank account and the guy at immigration told me to with draw 100B.
The reason for this is the letter and the bank statement both have to show the balance on the day of application.
The account statement should be for the previous 3 months.
Can't speak for others but the Brit embassy state in their letter words to the effect that they have seen 'evidence' of £xx monthly/annual income from each source. They are not responsible for the integrity of documents submitted to them, and therefore cannot be held to account for fake declarations.
Question. I have a valid Non-immigrant O multiple entry visa that exprires October 8, 2018. I will be flying back to Thailand on September 20, 2018 and assume that I will receive a 90 stamp. I plan to extend my current visa, so will I have to extend before October 8th, or can I wait until the 90 permission to stay stamp is close to being up even though my visa has technically expired?
When you enter Thailand you will recieve permission to stay unitl Dec 20, 2018. Apply for 1 year extension to stay before Dec 20 at your local immigration office. If you plan to leave and return before the 1 year extension to stay, make sure you get a reentry permit.

Thank you Norton, that is the answer I was looking for.
^My apologies.
Canadian friend went to his embassy this week for his proof of income letter etc etc - told that as of next year that this will not be taken into account for citizens of many countries :- USA , Canada, UK. Aus,-. NZ etc. Will it happen. ????

I will be flying down to Bangkok on November 20th to obtain an Affidavit of Income from the US Embassy. My understanding these affidavits will no longer be accepted for visa extensions starting January 1st, 2019. I am hoping I will then still be able to obtain a new Non-Immigrant O, multiple entry visa at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles without showing 400,000 baht in a Thai Bank account as I have done for many years.
Has using an Affidavit of Income until January 1st, 2019 already been discussed? I understand they will no longer be available to UK citizens as well. The tunnel keeps getting narrower and narrower.
2 differing things, outside and inside of Thailand, ones a visa the other is a extension of stay.
No need for a Thai bank account if applying in your home country [or Savanhket at this time] if you have the assets in the US, a bit more screwing around and a retirement visa is available, which is good for near on 2 years.
Royal Thai Consulate - General Los Angeles
^^
James, I have used the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles for the past 13 years. This will be my first go around for an extension. In LA they want to see a recent bank account showing a balance of something like $700.00 or more, so that is their only financial paperwork. The rest is strait forward and you submit your paperwork one day and pick up your passport with the visa the next. The biggest perk is that there is no attitude and very little said, very easy. I was in the States until September and could have gone that route, but I already had an active visa that was good until October and I really HATE LA traffic. Maybe when this is over, I might wish I had just gotten a new visa in the US.
FYI- The consulate has no information on extensions or financial requirements since that is a Thai thing, which has already been stated.
Worth a call, but my understanding is they will stop issuing them January 1st, 2019 and they are still listed on their website as services.
