Thread: Embassy Income Letter British embassy or other for Marriage Extn

Looking into possibly a marriage extension (Phuket) instead of using multi entry nonO as have been doing for a while. Passport is getting full.

I don't have the 400K needed in my Thai bank and as they will not accept from a UK bank, is the 40K income route possible if I can only really show around 25K ish per month? I read it could be possible to get the income letter from a different embassy/consulate other that the British one who may not want to see evidence of the funds and will probably charge less for the letter anyway. Another way would be to pay the extra funds into my UK account so I can show the 40K, but it would depend on the evidence is needed by the embassy and/or immigration about where it is coming from and how much history they need to see. Thanks.

You want an extension then but do not have the funds and are looking for a way to get round the rules. One of those visa services might be an idea then

It's so dodgy here there's always a way. Used to be the case Immigration would organize it for you, for a 20K fee. Never used it meself, but plenty did- and probably still do.

Probably cheaper and less hassle to get a new passport and do a full-visa run than pay the British Embassy for a certified letter.

Is that the ruse then? You write a letter saying "I earn 1m a month" and the British Embassy say "Do you swear that is true"? You say "yes" and they stamp ya, and you get a visa.

Looked at visa services before, not found a good one here in Phuket. Most services offer retirement visas which I don't qualify for. One here in Phuket last year said it probably better to stay on multi entries, as there service was about 30k. I can meet all the requirements for the extn except financial, reluctant to bring more funds to make my accounts here show 400k, would be ok if they let me show funds from overseas accounts, or even if they allowed a combination.

May well just stay on multi entries, was just looking at alternatives.

It's kind of funny - all you need to do is bring in some of your fortune from overseas, using a proper transfer service so you don't get screwed, but you seem unwilling to do this most simple thing to make your life easier?

I thought the best route for this was to Savanaket as they don't require proof of the 400K?

I don't have a fortune so would prefer to keep it in the UK for now, if exchange rates were better it would help but that's unlikely to change for a while. I could bring over 400K if I really needed to eg if multi entries were no longer available but its not ideal at the moment. If I could show UK funds it would be ok, It was accepted for getting my last visa in Penang. This is why I was looking at the income option but it depends what proof they need for the source of the funds, I could show that amount going through an account by just moving money around.

Probably just about enough space in my jumbo size passport for another cycle of 15 month of stamps if there are no rogue positioning of stamps or extra visits to anywhere that needs a full page visa.

So its not very urgent was just looking at options.

I was under the impression that you pay 15-20k to these visa places and they sort it all out with a man they know behind the desk, without the need for large bank balances

Thanks yes I was thinking along those line too, but not found anything.

There were some reports that the irish consulate issues the notary income letter for brits and it was accepted at the immigration office. I couldn't really find proof though.

I do know first hand of a Canadian who lived in the US for years, had bank accounts in the US etc BUT he couldn't get the US consulate notary letter because he wasn't an american. He had to go to the canandian consulate.

FWIW; only the canadian and uk consulates require you to prove that the amount you want on the income letter is backed up by something (pension, rental income, dividends etc). Most of the other consulates you write what you want on the letter and the consulate only notarizes that your name was on the top and you signed it in front of them.

Most likely I will stay with the ME Non O, I have enough space for the next visa and border runs, was just a thought.
