How long is my visa valid

hi guys, im flying into bangkok on the 1st of august. my return flight is on the 2nd of september.
im sure the visas i have had in my passport before only entitle me to stay for 30 days.
i am going accros to laos at some point in my first/ 2nd week there.
i know nothing on how this all works can someone tell me
am i fine to just stay on the one issued at the airport on day 1, just incase i dont go to laos.
do the airport look at the tickets and will they just issue me one for 32/33 days???
    any help ???

30 days at the airport, if u go across the border to Laos and then back again u get another 30 days.

    no problem.

A tourist visa is for 60 days, you'd apply for this at a Thai consulate.
The 30 days is a visa-exempt permit to stay, and, ahem, it's for 30 days.
When you will come back from Laos, you will get another one of these 30 day stamps, so you will be ok.

However, if you come back to Thailand again in the near future, you'd better get a 60 days visa beforehand, since you'll probably come close to your 90 days allowance. But don't worry about this now.

As long as you don't have more than 90 days within a single 180 day period, but you'll be well inside that.

Like the Fool said, no problem.

    Officially, no.

Was it checked in Thailand, because I've only ever been checked once at Heathrow.

yeah when i came through and they issue the visa at the passport desk, they ask to see passport bording card and return ticket. just wondered what they will do. i thought it was odd why they want return ticket as people must fly in on one way flights

right bitch of a flight too but they have doubled in price since last trip 2 weeks ago

Never had to show my ticket on arrival in Thailand.
The prob is more likely to occur at check-in, since airlines are held responsible for obvious visa violations of passengers. Has your travel agent not advised you on this?

Why don't you download the application form and fed-ex it with your passport?
