    New Thai Passport

    Hi,

My wife is travelling back to Thailand from the UK, she has a British passport whicjh she will be travelling on. She wants to get a new Thai passport, would anyone be able to answer the following questions:

1, Is the Chaeng Wattana passport open again and if so what time does the building and offices open. (does the building open before the offices?)

2, she has her ID card which has the 13 digit code is this sufficient documenation?

3, Approx how long does it take to get a taxi from Siam Square to Chaeng Wattana

    4. She has prebooked a queue, has anyone come across this?

Many thanks for your help in advance

    Thanks

Thai passports are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs out at the government complex on Chaengwattana road NEAR the building where foreigners go to do their own visa stuff.

In colloquial thai it's called the "กงสุลไทย" pronounced 'gong-sǔn tai'

^That's not the only place to get a Thai passport.

The Missus and child got theirs from Central, Bangna, although I see that has closed now.

The Department of Consular Affairs announced the termination of the passport division at Central Bangna office with the last day on 4 December 2014. The new office will be in Thanya Park on Srinakarin Road.

The new office will be open on 9 December 2014. It will be located on the 2nd floor, zone E. Office hours are from 08:30 to 15.30 hrs. For further information, visit consular website.

Who does the transfer of visas in the Thai passports? For instance a ten year tourist visa to the USA. Does one have to take the old and new passports back to the US embassy or consulate?

Just carry the old passport with the 10 year visa in it. Then show that along with the current Thai passport. My wife travels so much she had 3 passports with her. Nary a problem one.
