Khon Kaen - About 220 students and teachers of a Catholic school here were rushed to hospitals today morning after they suffered severe diarrhoea apparently caused by foods poisoning.
The students and teachers were rushed from the Holy Redeemer Bannoi Samliam School in Muang district to several hospitals at about 7:45 am.
Father Kamja Sohkan, manager of the school, said some of the students also vomited and fainted. The students and teachers developed acute diarrhoea while they were gathering for the morning pray before classes.
About 100 of them were rushed to Vejprasit Hospital, 75 to Rajapruek Hospital, 25 to Srinakharin Hospital and 15 to Khon Kaen Hospital.
Most of them were discharged after taking medicine. But ten students and two teachers with most severe symptoms were admitted as inpatients.
Prasit Boonma, the school's principal, said the diarrhoea might have been caused by foods poisoning by parts of the lunch on Tuesday.
