hah, come on smeg, you can do better. possibly 20 posts out of 20,000..... 0.1 % aint a lot.

ha. cos i've worked with these hiso kids, and they are generally very polite and friendly kids. But over on Ajarn quite a large number of posters dismiss the international schools as being full of rich snotty nosed kids.... aint my experience at all, I wonder if it's a justification for making them feel better about working for 40K baht p/m....

I mention it cos i think it is worth maddog looking at that as a job option, not dismissing it since somebody on Ajarn told him all rich kids are shite.

I can only quote my ex, he said most of the kids at Harrow were all right. Of course you got a few naughty ones just like everywhere else, but in general, they were ok. It's some of the teachers that were bullies/twats.

Why not go this september as a remedy for your current boredom?

I think it is too late to go through clearing now. Uni starts in October but teaching colleges follow the standard academic year... I think...

Clearing is used for A level students to apply at the last minute for undergraduate courses. Use this site for PGCE GTTR - Home Courses start in October.

Slightly off thread but, I read here recently that you guys teaching in Thailand cannot control your students (Is this true)?

So why do they pay you 40 to 80K PM?

Do you have to speak Thai to them, to enable them get a grasp of english?

A genuine enquiry, but ridicule me if you may,

    P.S. I need a job

i left teaching in Australia after 10 years ,i was sick to death of the teachers that didnt give a toss about the kids they were teaching , some were more concerned with their pay packets,i realise not everyone is in this boat! good luck to the students that have real teachers that care about their needs,it dosent matter what qualifications you have if you can relate to the students you are teachng!some do it because they love teaching others do it for money, what catergory do you fall into?

^ That is human nature. Nobody would expect them to work for free, hence their main motive is the salary. However, the difference is that in Australia these people chose to be teachers rather than become anything else, whereas in Thailand many TEFLers do it not by choice, but because they are either addicted to Thailand or detest their homeland hence teach only to live in Thailand because it is the only available option.

so you always say Smeg, but you never have any actual figures or proof that it is true

the ones I have met (and I too have no proof) are in Thailand by choice, they want to be here

the reasons vary, but often it is the life experience that attracts them. None have said it was the teaching experience. None have ever said that they hate their homeland or are addicted to Thailand, not one. I don't suppose they would though.

Maybe it was your own problem, and you are extrapolating to everyone else? You have never said that either
    I have reported your post

I am addicted to Thailand and all things Thai. I live on Mallorca so hardly a shut hole, its cheap and very pretty but I would still prefer to teach English in LOS than teach motor yachting in Mallorca which pays 5000 euros a month.

I'm a properly qualified TEFLer (scum?) with a reasonable education teaching in the back woods of Sakon Nakon. I make a decent salary the way the Thai teachers do... School pays me 37k per month, I teach piiset (special) for a bunch of hours a week, and I come out at about 80k per month. To be honest, I don't know what I'd do with 200k per month out here... probobly get into trouble with my wife
