If I ever multiply, and raise them in LoS one thing is for damned sure:

I'm meeting every single one of their teachers for a chat as well as observing one of their lessons before my kid is sat in front of them.

Just one of 'em with a pair of Tesco-Lotus polyester slacks 2 inchs above his ankles, one lisping retard, one ex-long distance truck driver with forearm tats, one pisshead E dealer, one hatefilled lesbian male hating feminatzi, one ex SAS bulldog, one 'wow, I never though I'd be a teacher til I found out it's the only thing I can do to avoid going home/leave Thailand' and I'd be out of there.

Given that there'd be at least 5 or 6 foreign teachers there it's a safe bet I'd be getting them educated in another country.

Because quality education (English in this case) is effectively an imported product in Thaland.

erm, not preempting, but ensuring that they aint cut out of the race by choices that are made when they are 10 or younger...

I don't have kids. But if I did, there is no way in hell I would send them to the shitty gov't schools in this country. They are all a disgrace to education. Personally I would take my kids back to the US, move into a good neighborhood, and send my kids to good public schools that I had researched. But again, I don't have kids so I'm not the best authority on this subject. I just know what I've seen in gov't schools -- I wouldn't wish that education on anybody's kids.
I HAVE TWO NEICES AND A NEPHEW, ALL THREE EDUCATED IN THE THAI PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM IN PITCHIT. MOTHER TEACHER, FATHER SCHOOL SUPERITENDENT, ALL THREE HAVE ATTENDED CHIANG MAI UNIVERSITY, THE OLDEST DAUGHTER AT TWENTY THREE IS ABOUT TO GET HER DOCTORATE IN PHYSICS, THE SECOND DAUGHTER IS A PHARMACIST AT A HOSPITAL IN BANGKOK, THE SON IS A SENIOR AT CHAING MAI UNIVERSITY HEADED TO MEDICAL SCHOOL. BECAUSE OF THERE OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AT THERE HIGH SCOOLS THEIR UNIVERSITY EDUCATION WAS AT THE EXPENCE OF THE THAI GOVERNMENT. THE OLDEST DAUGHTER IS PAID 1,000,000 BAHT PER YEAR TO STUDY. I BELEIVE EDUCATION IS WHAT EACH INDIVIDUAL MAKES OF IT.

Has nothing to do with the positions of the parents? Do you suppose the sprog of a farang has ever been given a scholarship? Just wondering.

PS: There is usually an adverb or a noun -- over there.
Their is a plural possessive pronoun -- their school.

    350 baht please.

15k sterling p.a. is probably being paid by a University for her to study for her Ph.D.
However she will have commited herself to the Uni for a term, maybe 10 years.
Well thats what happened at the Uni I worked at anyway.

NOT SO, BUT SHE DOES HAVE A COMMITMENT, WIFH A VERY NICE INCOME, TO THE GOVT.. THE POINT IS IF A THAI CHILD WANTS TO SUCCEED IT IS POSSIBLE.

That's lovely. Congratulations, you must be very proud. It's good to know that at least 3 or 4 people have been supported by the "System" and have gone through the hoops to achieve academic success.
I wondered if you knew of any others that have been so fortunate?

SORRY FOR THE MISSUSE OF THERE. THE POINT I WAS MAKING WAS NOT THAT THE POSITIONS OF THE PARENTS HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEIR SUCCESS, EXCEPT FROM A MOTIVATIONAL AND GREAT EXAMPLE STAND POINT.

Jandajoy you keep debating with ET. I don't look to win points; so all I can say to justify my statement is that at the Uni I taught at there were 20 odd students sent abroad each year to study for their Ph.Ds.
Therefore, over time, this number, when multiplied by the number of other Unis practising the same policy, will amount to many more than a few, to me that is a lot
