You are a nice bloke Breny, but I'm not sure what you are expecting exactly. I'm not sure how or why you are expecting people on an internet forum to be able to give you a job.

What TD members run a school or a recruitment agency??

You do come across as decent bloke, but your posts are always very confusing, as if you are posting drunk all the time.

Good luck with it anyhow. Wish you all the best.

Is that a job request/advertisement ? I'm no expert, and while I understand a forum is 'different to how you would teach in real life' I think polishing those mistakes out may help a bit.

At the risk of incurring wrath of the3 board mods, I would suggest that the Ajarn board jobs section is the best place to start.

Seems there is always loads of jobs. Not saying they are good jobs mind, but if you are prepared to work in any part of Thailand, then there should be no problem finding soemthing.

not up on all of the stuff, but a TEFL cert thingy may be useful?

    Breny, I'm assuming your British.

I've been here just shy of ten years. Like a lot of people (for no good reason) I used to look down on people that taught English. I guess it's simply that it's the easier option, and that setting up a company/idea is the hard choice.

I went the idea route, and while I'm no Alan Sugar, I do OK. However, a couple of years ago I tried teaching during a time when cash flow was bad and some well paid work fell into my lap.

It's the easiest thing to do if you're a native speaker - speak that native language.

It's easy to get a job here teaching English - Asia's flying while the west is tanking, and there are more and more students looking for native speakers to teach them. You get about a tenner an hour to sit opposite pretty young professional ladies who love your accent and smell good.

No brainer really - and certainly not something to worry about.

Then you have to do what they would do and crack on with it rather than speculating. You've got one life mate - grab it with both hands and live it.

Get yourself 5k together, tie up your loose ends (don't burn your bridges) and get out here. 1 month of focused application will be enough to get you on the ladder.

TEFLing is not really skilled work but unfortunately being able to use English at a level beyond that of an over-excited poodle is usually considered one of the more important abilities in a prospective teacher. That said, there are - sadly - plenty of places in Thailand which don't operate to these high standards; if you've got a white face, you're relatively clean, and your personal oddities - alcoholism, incipient psychosis, compulsive abuse of sex workers, all consuming hatred of everything which comes from beyond Britain's shores, etc - are not too obvious or intrusive, I'm sure you will be able to get a job. Whether or not you ought to is a different matter.

^ I don't think so. I think he's a good egg Breny, just gets a bit carried away when he's juiced I think.

Hopefully he'll come back and let us know how his job hunt is going.
