Those besuited Corporate owners secretly sympathise with OWS and tree hugger types because of course they are just like them, and adulate them. When corporate America and it's pet government beats the war drums, that is of course why they stridently tell us such astonishing Truisms as that Saddam was behind 911, and was buying nuclear parts in Africa.

"It’s a new year, but one thing hasn’t changed: The economy still blows. Five years after Wall Street crashed, America’s banker-gamblers have only gotten richer, while huge swaths of the country are still drowning in personal debt, tens of millions of Americans remain unemployed – and the new jobs being created are largely low-wage, sub-contracted, part-time grunt work.

Millennials have been especially hard-hit by the downturn, which is probably why so many people in this generation (like myself) regard capitalism with a level of suspicion that would have been unthinkable a decade ago. But that egalitarian impulse isn’t often accompanied by concrete proposals about how to get out of this catastrophe. Here are a few things we might want to start fighting for, pronto, if we want to grow old in a just, fair society, rather than the economic hellhole our parents have handed us.

1. Guaranteed Work for Everybody

Unemployment blows. The easiest and most direct solution is for the government to guarantee that everyone who wants to contribute productively to society is able to earn a decent living in the public sector. There are millions of people who want to work, and there’s tons of work that needs doing – it’s a no-brainer. And this idea isn’t as radical as it might sound: It’s similar to what the federal Works Progress Administration made possible during Roosevelt’s New Deal, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. vocally supported a public-sector job guarantee in the 1960s.

A job guarantee that paid a living wage would anchor prices, drive up conditions for workers at megacorporations like Walmart and McDonald’s, and target employment for the poor and long-term unemployed – people to whom conventional stimulus money rarely trickles all the way down. The program would automatically expand during private-sector downturns and contract during private-sector upswings, balancing out the business cycle and sending people from job to job, rather than job to unemployment, when times got tough.

2. Social Security for All

But let’s think even bigger. Because as much as unemployment blows, so do jobs. What if people didn’t have to work to survive? Enter the jaw-droppingly simple idea of a universal basic income, in which the government would just add a sum sufficient for subsistence to everyone’s bank account every month. A proposal along these lines has been gaining traction in Switzerland, and it’s starting to get a lot of attention here, too.
We live in the age of 3D printers and self-replicating robots. Actual human workers are increasingly surplus to requirement – that’s one major reason why we have such a big unemployment problem. A universal basic income would address this epidemic at the root and provide everyone, in the words of Duke professor Kathi Weeks, “time to cultivate new needs for pleasures, activities, senses, passions, affects, and socialities that exceed the options of working and saving, producing and accumulating.”

Put another way: A universal basic income, combined with a job guarantee and other social programs, could make participation in the labor force truly voluntary, thereby enabling people to get a life."

How truly depraved to you have to be on the Left when you start attacking nuns who spend their time taking care of the elderly, the sick and the dying?

Megyn Kelly and Mark Rienzi reference the horrible attacks on the nuns by the Left, in Slate. The nuns are also being attacked in the LA Times, where their case is termed “absurd”.

Well, Michael Hiltzik of the LA Times and Amanda Marcotte of Slate both take the cake.

Because the Little Sisters of the Poor have the temerity to stand up to the bullying of the Obama regime, Hiltzik and Marcotte have actually called the nuns “weasels”. The reason they are calling them weasels is because they refuse to sign off on a paper that would amount to a “permission slip” for employees to get abortificients and other contraception.

Isn't Slate one of the Libs favorite go-to sites for talking points here?

Clear evidence of the right wing alternate reality has been displayed time and again. The biggest and best example was in the last presidential election when Karl Rove insisted that the election wasn't over even though Romney had already been soundly beaten. Boon you yourself were still buying into the right wing alternate reality at that time as well and when Romney did wind up being beaten you flounced off the forum for two months.

^ Well lets look at this objectively.

Benghazi is a tragedy but not a scandal.

1.There was no cover up and there is no legitimate evidence there was.
2. Chris Stevens twice refused DOD offers for additional security. That's right Stevens TURNED IT DOWN.
3. Republicans are desperate to find anyway that they can to discredit HRC before the next presidential election.

Bridge-gate is a good old scandal of the highest order. Sure nobody died but there is a powerful governor strong arming mayors for false endorsements and that is election rigging. The scandal has widened to Hoboken and it just keeps getting bigger.

In one case there is evidence in the other just false flag accusations.

Well, it's a David & Goliath thing here with Fox News up against some heavy-hitters. Like the rest of the entire Lamestream News Media, eh?

Anyway here's a study out this week finds that liberals and socialists drink considerably more alcohol than everyone else. As the authors of the study note,

“Our findings are relatively consistent with the recent sociological studies showing that people with more socialist views tend to engage in more unhealthy behaviors such as excessive drinking.”

Watch that liver all you card-carrying members of the TDMA

That might apply in the US, but people in better off countries seem to drink considerably more than in the US, full stop. guess they can afford to.
Of course, the 'libbie' states have considerably higher incomes than the impoverished, uneducated red states anyway. So the correlation applies here too.
