Jehovah's Witnesses in Thailand - at the beach

yesterday, there we were at an almost deserted beach - this one

about 400m away there was a family, other than that about 1500m of clear beachfront.

Then, along came the Jehovah's Witnesses. Seven of them seemed overkill in the circumstances. Nicely dressed and with little umbrellas to keep the sun off.

I saw them headed our way and did what any honourable man would do - said "going for another swim'. Waited till they'd left, then snapped a quick photo

Who were they? i asked, all innocent.
    Christians
    Who?
You know . . . Jesus . . . and then she acted out hammering nails in her feet and both hands. At which point I brought up the question of how to get the last nail in; I just had to.

They were all Thai, left her two copies of The Watchtower magazine, Thai language edition.

I've been Jehovah-ed before, about 2yrs ago in Phuket a group of English JW women were pestering farang villas, first time I have encountered the Thai version. A week ago at the same beach would have been interesting, we were there for day 1 of Songkran they'd have been good targets.

Don't know how the JW beliefs would 'fit in' with Buddhism?

In the mide of the converted, they are doing "God's" work. It isn't so bad if they want to discuss and do not attempt to convert but that is too much to ask for I think.

did you see what the JW birds looked like?

The JWs must be doing a Watchtower blitz in Thailand. I found one stuck in my front gate here in Chiang Mai just a couple of days ago. Couldn't read it as it was in Thai but had no doubt what it was and trashed it.

Back in the day when I used to indulge in altered states of consciousness a bunch of them approached our 'party' and one of the questions they asked was something to do with 'visions'.

We were so fokked-up I told them right now I was seeing Jesus, G_D and the whole Holy Host and they promptly left. JV's are worse than Mormans...

according to this site JWs in Thailand are
0.0316736 per 1,000 people which is 31.67... per million, so based on 65m here, about 2000.

Maybe Thai JV's are not as offensive as their cousins in the states. According to their 'religion', smoking is evil but to drink and get absolutely staggering drunk is OK. A real bunch of hypocrites...

Just a thought for the religius types.

If you were Jesus, and had been nailed to a cross on your last visit here, would you really even consider coming back now that there are crosses everywhere you look? It's as though we are ready for him this time..

I never really understood why JW are so keen proselytise - since they believe only 144,000 souls will go to heaven surely it is in their best interests to keep down the competition for places?

All this medieval Xtian stuff has totally corrupted the original story.

    For instance:

The word "hell" is derived from "held". meaning obviously limited or captured, isolated.
Cattle were held in a hold or keep, so were soldiers and goods, for safe keeping.
Being sent to hell was to be held, or incarcerated some where.
    Effectively isolated and ostracised.

The concept of a heaven arose in Israel during the time of the Macabees, where the slain heros got their reward for martyrdom.
Plato's Utopia was a perfect place on earth, paralells Jesus's concept of the"heavenly" (perfect, above lower levels)" kingdom "on earth.

The term devil arose from the OE word to trick or confuse, be-devilled as a case in point. The word evil (meaning undesirable) being personified for religios purposes.

The word angel comes from the Greek 'angelus" meaning messenger.
So when an "angel" (angelus) appeared to Mary re. the birth of her son, it was a messenger from "god".

The "god" that the "angel" came from was none other than the high priest at the temple in Jerusalem.
So Jesus' dad was the high priest, not Joseph, who had to take it on the chin and shut up, "for he was a privy man"
Mary had in fact shagged the high priest at the time while engaged to Joseph.

Jesus said to his disciples, "Do ye not know that ye are gods?'
    John 14:12.
Implying that god is a human being.

When St Stephen was martyred, he looked up and "..beheld god in heaven..."
Meaning that the high priest from the Sanhedrin (local Jewish legislative body) oversaw the execution by stoning from the top (one of the Jewish 'heavens") of the city (Jerusalem) walls.

God as in the Genesis creation story is referred to as the "Elohim", meaning gods, forces or powers of the known universe.
So the universal powers (gods) created the universe.

This polytheic "god", mentioned in Genesis, the Elohim (plural) later evolved to a dominant monotheic one, "Eloi" (singular).
The suffix "im" denotes the plural.

666, the mark of the beast referred to in Revelations is the name of one Simon Magus, a rival of Jesus' at the time.

    S M I= 666 in the old Chaldean numerology

His job and perk in the local hierarchy of things was to collect the fees payable to the temple in Jerusalem when those entering had to ritually cleanse themselves in a long bathing tank outside the temple.

Before cleansing, they were "as unclean as beasts", so after bathing, on entering the temple proper, a mark was put on their forehead to indicate that they'd paid their cleansing fee and were allowed then to buy, sell, trade etc in the temple.

He was called the Beast, because his job was to make sure that those who were as unclean as beasts cleaned up their act.

He was in a powerful position, the "bag man" for the temple at the time.

    Satan.
This word is a corruption of the word "shaitan".
The shaitan in the Sanhedrin was the senior state prosecutor, a human being again.

So when Jesus said, "Get thee behind me Satan", he was telling his tricky (devilish) accuser to piss off, back to the past.
Basically the man was telling the prosecutor to piss off and mind his own business, he had no need for him and couldn't be tricked by him to take part in an insurrection against the Jewish state, not for love or money or power in the local courts.

So, all you satanists, devil worshipers and 666 beast followers, you are all in lalaland.
So are all you other believers in fairies, angels, gods and such myths.

Any one involved in any of that sado-masochistic crap need their heads read, and possibly charged for fraud, misrepresentation, intimidation of the gullible and murder.

    Got it all now?
    I hope so.

This had never occurred to me, so it suddenly struck me as particularly funny. I just PISSED myself laughing; tears included.
My wife keeps saying "what" ? "WHAT" ? because I was laughing so much.

^ Don't mention contact explosives in the presence of 9/11 conspiracy debunkers, it'll drive them nuts!

The Johos used to come and visit me, as did other religious.
I think that they were looking for comfort.

My missus was the "guardian at the gate", scary lady, used to piss people away from me if she thought they were no good!

    Bless her little knitted socks.

To make the argument that nobody knows, therefore an idiotic belief may be right is, well, idiocy.
