I don't know whether she deserves deporting or not, and of course the case is only receiving any attention because it is a relative of the Pres.

Like the many other cases, it should be decided on it's own merits and by the usual method.

We already have too many "in the wagon" and too few pulling. Hell, 47% of American workers pay no federal income tax as it is now.

^Agree. I have a USG pension. It pays me every month, and will continue to pay my surviving spouse after I die. They take out federal income tax before sending me the check each month. When I file at the end of the year, I usually get some money back. So, what would you suggest I do? I don't approve of welfare cheats, any more than I approve of many other things the USG spends my taxes on. I do not live in the US, and have no plans to ever do so. Should I write my Congressman? Send e-mails? Do you really think this will have any impact whatever on how the USG spends tax dollars? I doubt it. The lady in question is one of many exploiting the system. There is nothing I can do from the other side of the world that has any chance of making an impact. If I don't pay my federal taxes, they are simply going to take the money, plus penalties, out of my pension. So, that's that. Welcome any ideas you might have.

Certainly Auntie Obama seems a less than grateful recipient of US largesse', if the interview linked above is anything to go by. But that might just be African fatalism- it was the 'will of God' and all that. I don't think the US is different to Oz in this regard- she basically got in legally, because she had been living there so long already. Under these circumstances, few magistrates are willing to throw you out. Certainly, even though she is not a close relative of the Pres, I can't see how she would have been thrown out when so many anonymous folk in the same situation would have been allowed to stay.

As far as Pres Obama is concerned- and thats what this is all about- he certainly did the right thing. Namely nothing. He didn't get involved, and left the court system to do their stuff.

If he'd so much as thrown a dime her way during her appeals process, there would have been an uproar. Hr'd have been accused of trying to influence the outcome. Now it wouldn't matter, and for all I know he might. But given the immigration debate in the US and elsewhere, I'm sure the inevitable PR people that surround the Pres would be advising him to keep her out of the public eye.

if she has broken the law then she needs deported. if she hasn't she stays. need the facts and knowledge of the law to make decision.

Liberals insist the world owes everyone a living. Nobody is illegal to a liberal, because all people are equal and therefore one legal person in the country means all should be legal; and if one legal person enjoys womb to tomb benefits, then all including illegals should.
