the GOP has already forgotten the lesson they claimed to have learned in 2012.
if you remember, they were all shocked by the results the day after the election....and that's because they were only reading drudge and watching fox news, they were convinced that romney was going to win. they were also convinced that nate silver and all the polls were lying....but when reality set in the day after the election, most of them went into shock. you might remember that our resident half-wit disappeared from the forum for a few weeks after promising a romney victory...because that's what drudge and fox news told him to think.
so, a couple of months after the election, the GOP did some soul searching and determined that it wasn't just going to listen to the echo chamber and it was going to do outreach to moderates.
but what are they doing now....planning on boycotting CNN---which is undoubtedly the most non-partisan of cable news networks....because they're going to produce a documentary on HRC. a documentary.
and they're going to boycott NBC news because NBC entertainment is in talks to do a biopic on HRC.....and the script hasn't even been written yet?
this is clearly all about firing up the base...and it's only going to distance the GOP from moderates.
take all the vowels out of reince preibus...and what are you left with?

Tried to green you for that slam dunk post, but I'm out of ammo.
I'm watching Fox News right now. The last piece was about a 29 year-old surfer dude in California who can afford to eat lobster and sushi without earning anything other than collecting food stamps. The dude has an excellent life style: surfing all day, playing rock and roll all night and the focus of the story was how he was sponging off the rest of us by collecting food stamps.

Don't recall there being much shock at all- he was uniformly favored to win, thanks to 911. (Prior to that, he was already being described as a lame duck president.) Bush's first term was the period my lifetime political allegiance changed from the republican party, to anyone but. Since then they've been totally committed to turning a bad thing even worse.Originally Posted by socal

Another Corporate Welfare Scandal
In the midst of a record-breaking budget deficit in 2005, who is most deserving of welfare handouts from the government? According to Congress, the answer is Wal-Mart. Here is a news update from Taxpayers for Common Sense. TCS is the best organization that monitors excessive government spending, corruption and corporate welfare. "WAL-MART WELFARE"
Americans love clear highways and are willing to pay billions of dollars for the chance that they might one day see what one looks like. Congress has done their best to bring this dream to fruition, and recently passed a $284 billion highway bill as proof of their dedication.
The highway bill they passed is a 1,132 page mammoth that contains something for almost everyone in the nation. In fact, the legislation contained 4,128 political earmarks at a total cost of $12.4 billion. Nearly every member of the House got a few projects for their district, and the bill’s authors cashed in big.
Some of these projects that received earmarked funds are important, such as the $2 million for the rebuilding of the Brent Spence Bridge in Cincinnati. But there’s one earmark tucked into the bill that will make your head spin. In our ten years of congressional oversight, we rate this as one of the worst examples of corporate welfare we’ve ever seen.
First, think about the following question. If there is one company that is so big, so rich, and so powerful that it should never get a federal dime, who would you name? A short list that might spring to mind would include GM, ExxonMobil, Microsoft and a few others. Did you think about Wal-Mart? If so, you get our gold star.
In our mind, there is no one that is less deserving of federal support than Wal-Mart, yet it gets $37 million from Uncle Sam in the transportation bill. Last year, Wal-Mart made $20,000 profit every minute of every day for a total of $10.3 billion dollars on the year. Other retail giants didn’t do nearly so well: Target’s profit per minute was $6,084, and Costco’s profit per minute was $1,711. Here are the details.
The evidence goes on and on and on. Right under your nose.
Learn how badly the real thieves and feeders at the public trough are fleecing you for.

Jonathan Hoenig is the manager of the Capitalistpig Hedge Fund and a Fox News contributor who appears weekly on “Cashin’ In.” He routinely blurts out ignorant rants such as declaring that access to health care makes everyone a slave, or that kids would do better on the streets than in public school, or that Social Security should be scrapped.
On this week’s edition of the program (video below) Hoenig demonstrated that he is not above religious bigotry to make a dubious point and to slander a Democratic congressman.
During a discussion about the Inclusive Prosperity Act (aka the Robin Hood tax), a bill that would impose a fee of a fraction of a percent on certain financial transactions, Hoenig abandoned any pretense of debating the merits of the bill and instead decided to attack the bill’s sponsor, Keith Ellison, for his religious beliefs.
Hoenig: I don’t know if Rep. Ellison has read the Constitution. I know he is a practicing Muslim and in Sharia law, there is a prohibition against trading of derivatives, against speculation of any type. And so in my opinion you could make the argument this is even a little bit of Sharia creep here with the cracking down on trade, cracking down on the derivative trade, cracking down on wealth production.
The only “creep” here is Hoenig. His repulsive attack on Ellison’s faith is not only evidence of his ingrained hatred, but he makes no sense whatsoever on a financial basis. Nothing in the bill prohibits derivative trading or any other stock transaction. And in addition to generating billions of dollars, the nominal fee would produce a more stable trading environment that in recent years has become dangerously volatile.
The fact that Ellison is Muslim has nothing to do with the bill. It is co-sponsored in the House by 17 representatives who are mostly Christians (and at least on Jew). Hoenig is obviously not an expert in Islamic practices. Millions of Muslims invest in equities markets in the United States and around the world. That includes one Muslim named Al-Waleed bin Talal, a Saudi prince whose share of stock in the network Hoenig is broadcasting on is exceeded only by Rupert Murdoch and his family.
Furthermore, Hoenig’s snide curiosity about whether Ellison has read the Constitution only reveals his own constitutional illiteracy. Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution explicitly grants authority for the government to assess taxes and fees such as the one in Ellison’s bill.
This segment is the perfect capsulization of Fox’s abhorrent philosophy and mission. It illustrates both their overt contempt for anyone who is not a member of their preferred fraternity (in this case Muslims), and their kneejerk opposition to any tax measure that benefits the nation if it imposes even a tiny burden on the wealthy and greedy corporations whose rights they regard as superior to the people.
Hoening is just another ignorant and insulting cretin to whom Fox News provides a platform to disseminate hatred and disinformation. And that includes the program’s host, Eric Bolling, who was quick to agree with Hoenig’s dumbshit commentary.
News Corpse » The Internet's Chronicle of Media Decay:
Is hoening the guy on the left and Ellison the guy on the right?
Btw, your arguments are substantial and irrefutable and hoening's aren't. But this is what he said right? "I don’t know if Rep. Ellison has read the Constitution. I know he is a practicing Muslim and in Sharia law, there is a prohibition against trading of derivatives, against speculation of any type. And so in my opinion you could make the argument this is even a little bit of Sharia creep here with the cracking down on trade, cracking down on the derivative trade, cracking down on wealth production." wow. The logic sounds so perfect, doesn't it? And yet it's all a bunch of claptrap. But bigots have always used claptrap to spout their hateful ideals. It's the guys like hoening, though, that you got to worry about b/c they make their spiel sound so logical.

Wonder if you ever saw this story on FOX?
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) — so fond of accusing the Obama administration of foisting socialism on an unwilling America — has apparently been the recipient of about a quarter of million bucks in government handouts.
Bachmann’s financial disclosure forms indicate her stake in the Wisconsin farm is worth up to $250,000. Her income from the farm has grown from $2,000 a year a few years back to as much as $50,000 for 2008.
Anti-socialist Bachmann got $250K in federal farm subsidies

Is it a slow news day, or just another day at Fox News? For some reason Fox is exposing their wacko side (again) over at their community web site Fox Nation (See Fox Nation vs. Reality for an in-depth look at the site’s blatant dishonesty). In two days they have posted two articles about fishy fringe groups proposing phony “Articles of Impeachment” against President Obama.
The first thing to note is that such articles cannot be drafted by citizens. It is a legal process that begins in the House of Representatives. So these charades have no meaning other than as political publicity stunts. Secondly, the allegations must assert criminal wrongdoing that amount to “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Being unsatisfied with explanations about what took place at Benghazi, or opposition to a health insurance law, that was passed by congress and upheld by the Supreme Court, do not rise to that standard.
Nevertheless, Fox News is going all out to promote these absurd spectacles. The first was posted yesterday with a headline that shouted “Black Citizens Group Files ‘Articles of Impeachment’ Against Obama”
In fact, the group was actually the National Black Republican Association, a shadowy organization with no visible means of support who exist primarily to advance false claims about the historical relationship of Democrats and Republicans to the black community. For instance, they produced radio ads and billboards declaring that Martin Luther King was a Republican, a claim that is demonstrably untrue.
The Fox Nationalists sourced their story to Watchdog.org, a division of the Franklin Center which is financed by the Koch brothers as an “investigative” journalism service. Both Watchdog and the Franklin Center espouse rabidly right-wing/Tea Party propaganda disguised as news reporting – much like Fox News.
The next impeachment article was posted today in the form of a video “trailer” (see you tube video below) for a new book by noted birther Aaron Klein. The book is titled “Impeachable Offenses: The Case for Removing Barack Oabam from Office.” It suffers from the same deficiencies of law and logic as the NBRA’s article.
Klein’s book was published by the book division of WorldNetDaily, the far-right home of the wildest conspiracy theories on the net, many of which are manufactured by Klein himself. In addition to a variety of birther myths, WorldNetDaily is the source of such reputable reporting as terrorists building “boob” bombs (seriously, you have to see the graphic), and Obama using the movie “The Butler” to incite race wars. The site features such distinguished contributors as Ted Nugent, Victoria Jackson, and Donald Trump.
So that’s two articles in two days planting the asinine idea of impeachment in the minds of Fox’s gullible and glassy-eyed audience. Both are from sources that represent the dregs of the uber-rightist conspiracy swamps with no credibility whatsoever. I can’t wait to see what the Fox Nationalists post tomorrow. And Fox wants people to regard them as a reputable news organization? Yeah, sure.

No worries re Obama getting impeached. He made himself impeachment-proof with Mad Dog Joe Biden being his VP. Nobody wants that fool as POTUS.

All the more reason that HRC is a shoe in for the nomination.Originally Posted by Boon Mee

BTW, who doesn't know Abe Lincoln was a Republican?
I have the fear that the 2008 race took all the wind out of her sails. And she's not as tough as most American's percieve a president should be. But it's time for a female president, rep or dem. I'd like to see Condo Rice run. You know, the repugnicans are going to have to come up with an eye-catcher, if they're smart. Somebody with sex appeal. I think she's got it and she's got cred. But if she were a man, she'd be a poof.
The real world-
An internal NSA audit, released Thursday by The Washington Post, found that the agency has violated privacy rules thousands of times every year since 2008. But even before those revelations, a majority of voters in five state-level polls said that James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, should be prosecuted for giving Congress a "clearly erroneous" answer about NSA surveillance.
The five polls were conducted by the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling for the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, which has raised money for NSA leaker Edward Snowden's defense fund.
In the spring, Clapper denied to Congress that the NSA collected "any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans." He later told NBC's Andrea Mitchell that he had given the "least untruthful" answer possible. (On Monday, he was tapped by President Barack Obama to establish a "high-level group of outside experts" to review surveillance and privacy issues.)
Sixty-nine percent of voters in Kentucky said Clapper should face charges for perjury, as did 68 percent in Texas, 65 percent in Iowa, 57 percent in Hawaii and 54 percent in California.

^Could you be specific at to which privacy rules were violated?
Clearly not James Crappers 'right to privacy' over disclosing the NSA's true activities to Congress and the American people.
