I won't disagree on point #2 either.

But point #1 is a little bit too general. Again, if the Arabs can't unite, how do you expect the west to do it for the Palis. Israel can do whatever they want. Their influence in world politics is too big.

I lived in Malaysia for a number of years, found that much more peaceful and tranquil than any place I have seen in the west. Safe to walk the streets at night and the people were friendly, especially the Muslims.

My guess is that you have never visited a Muslim or middle-eastern country, and probably have had bad experiences with Muslims in the past. My parents and grandparents had a few years with rather unpleasant encounters with your fellow countrymen (both my grandfathers spent time in prison camps during WW2), yet when I grew up I never heard them say anything negative about Germany or Germans. My guess is that it was because they knew that the average German suffered as much, if not more than we did ourselves during that time.

Perhaps there is a lesson there for yourself.....

I find it incredibly frustrating sitting watching the news in the morning.

I find it incredible that Bush has blamed Hezbeloh (sp) for starting all this by kindnapping soldiers.

Israel is a small bit of land. If they do decide to invade Syria (for supplying rockets) or Iran (just for the crack of it) will they be able to hold off 4 countries?

Will the US be able to step in and support the fighting with their current commitment to Iraq and Afghanistan. DO they have the resources. Do they have the balls to take on four separate countries?

I don't think so.

It could easily be the end for Israel if we are lucky.

One only needs to know the identity of one of the largest lobbying organizations in the United States to know why we support Israel. Politicians here are afraid of saying "NO!" to AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). In addition many fundamentalist Christians consider the return of the Jews to Israel to be a sign of the second coming of Christ. Who said that the Crusades were over? Between AIPAC and conservative Christians that have hijacked the Republican Party it's no wonder Chimperella is giving Israel the green light to do as they please.

Among AIPAC's supporters you can count Chimperella along with a majority of both parties in Congress. How does a teeny, tiny nation of the world command such support from the United States? Unbelievable, even Taiwan doesn't get this kind of support and Taiwan is more democratic than the racist nation of Israel ever will be.

We could force them to stop if we had the balls. It would only take an act of Congress to cut off the funds. Israel could not survive without the help of the US, and, that's why Arabs/Muslims put us in the crosshairs (World Trade Center). Jews and Palestinians aren't the only victims of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

As far as I can see, most people are not complaining about "Jews". They are complaining about the policy of the state of Israel. Two different things, as there are many Jews (and Israelis) who are critical of the policy of the State of Israel.

There is no denying that people of Jewish descent have contributed a lot to science and human advancement.

There is also no denying that during the centuries when most of Europe was largely an uneducated, fundamentalist mess, scientists in the Muslim world preserved and advanced science much more than the Europeans, who happily burned any books that did not happen to coincide with the official view of the world as propagated by the Almighty Christian Church. Without the Muslim scientists of that time, many things would have had to be done all over again.

This is however rather irrelevant to the present situation, where the STATE of ISRAEL is attacking the STATE of LEBANON (which, by the way, has a sizeable Christian community).

I'd contend that religion isn't the principal motivation for Palestinian suicide bombers; they just want their country back.

The creation of the state of Israel was a big mistake to beging with. Still today, they oddly stand out in that area like a walrus in the Mojave desert. The environment had not changed much since the departure of their ancestors but they came back, changed, expecting every neighbouring country to adapt instantly to their presence and allowing them more territory over time. Coyotes would feast over the walrus in a matter of minutes.

I agree that the U.S. and other Western nations have created the mess in the M.E. also. Iraq was created in a hotel room in Cairo, Egypt around or in, 1919.

Same for the other nations.

The U.S. and others should have long stayed out of the region and allow for self-determination.

I'll answer that question then. A lot of Muslims know about these people, and some people in the West who try to look a bit further than the usual anti-Muslim prejudices. Demonizing billions of people at once is too simplistic.

That is not to say it would not be nice with a bit more progress and a lot less conservatism/fundamentalism in the Muslim world of today.
