True, but I'd still like to see it anyway. If the speaker comes out OK and holds their own then fine, so be it, but I wouldn't bet on it unless the GOP put up a seasoned old warhorse from the Senate or something.

On another forum people are comparing it to the UK PM's question time! Heh, that was Sunday School compared to a good old UK parliamentary ding-dong, PMs can only dream of getting that sort of deference across the ballot box.

Obama performed very well indeed, and I hope him just being there will help clear the air and get some sort of collaborative governance happening with the GOP opposition. The current situation is just ridiculous, childish and above all damaging to the country they supposedly work for.

Americans aren't quite ready for that, sadly. Maybe one day we'll even have actual political parties (again).

Could be worse -- in one of the latest 'political news stories' out of NZ a ruckus was caused when a member of one political party (the opposition) 'de-friended' an MP from another party on his Facebook account.

    Facebook for focks sake!

Bozo got asked about his campaign promise to red line earmarks & then in practice he did no such thing.

His excuse ? That was when I was running for office. Now I am the man you can go jump in a lake. Zero credibility.

In the State of the Union he said he would make executive orders to bypass the Supreme Court or anyone else standing in his way.
Barack Hussein Obama lying polecat. Libs Only Comply With Laws They Agree With.

^^ Hilarious, Ant! Thanks for sharing.

I watched BO's Q&A. Sure, he stayed calm and cute but he avoided answering most of the questions and just meandered here and there with pretty rhetoric, except for chastising the GOP for not playing fair (ya, tell that to Pelosi and Reid). He's a snake charmer, nothing more.

He kind of dodged one about discretionary spending, but it was artful. The Repub, Ryan I think, didn't call him on it.

I was amazed he kept his cool while the crazy lady from Tennessee went on her endless nasal rant.

As the smartest guy the room, and one of the few adults, they will undoubtedly call him arrogant.

honesty doesn't go down well with conservatives and republicans though

Seriously, I've got some issues with the way the guy is going about some things, but hearing how he handled the silly rhetorical posturing dished out as questions made me proud, and damnded grateful, to have him as President.

He needs to do it again in a forum more likely to be seen by the public, but the Republicans are now probably afraid to get in the same room with him.

    Obama is really Gold,

I agree about some issues not being addressed correctly, like the Iraq war, Universal Healthcare etc...

he might be too sensitive to others input with those issues, which probably stall him to make a decision. He should start acting more like GW Bush and go for unilateral actions, that would make the Republicans squeals like mad pigs while actually solving the issues

At the site I provided earlier to watch Obama on C-Span it didn’t give you an option to stop and start it (I think).

However youtube made it available so it’s easier to watch. The full intro isn’t on youtube.

highly doubtful....especially having that sort of a takeaway.

and let's not lose sight of the fact that this was 1 on 140....and obama schooled them all.

i invite the conservatives on this board to show me one elected republican that could stand up and take any and all questions from the democratic caucus. good luck.

oh, and so much for the teleprompter BS that has been thrown around on this forum.

make no mistake, this was a huge success for obama....and the repubs will think twice about allowing the cameras in again.

^On one of the right wing sites I read, they were talking about the Q&A session and they said they would have to tone down the rhetoric about that teleprompter crap

Nice new avatar, by the way. Hope the judge makes an example outta that idiot,…. right or left,.....it should not be tolerated

Teleprompter, evading questions etc . . . so, all that's been put to rest . . . it won't take long for them to pick up something else, just as untruthful and blast it around like it is scripture

what they're doing now is using 'arrogant' as a euphemism for 'uppity'.

after the state of the union address nearly every republican was telling reporters that obama was arrogant....which is simply code for 'uppity'. the teabagging bloggers are also using it.

this sort of thing is like a dog whistle for middle-aged, white and not so bright crowd.

The problem isn't Obama, the problem is Congress. Both parties, both houses.

WASHINGTON (Feb. 1) – After moving last year to cancel or scale back some of the military's most expensive weapons programs, the Obama administration announced plans today to continue what has become an era of historic growth in defense spending.

New spending blueprints unveiled at the Pentagon would push the U.S. military's budget to $708 billion next year, the most in inflation-adjusted dollars since World War II. The plan also would keep the military budget growing for years to come.

About $159 billion (22 percent) of the 2011 total will support forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. The White House also wants to add $33 billion to this year's defense budget to cover the cost of the 30,000 additional troops President Obama ordered to Afghanistan last fall.

The remaining $548 billion in planned spending next year – up 1.8 percent from 2010 – would cover everyday military operations around the world, weapons purchases and research, and pay and benefits. Included are a 1.4 percent pay hike for uniformed and civilian workers, the smallest in at least a decade, and larger increases (3.4 to 4.2 percent) in housing and subsistence allowances.

...That means the $250 billion the White House says the freeze would save over three years is only about one-third of what the Pentagon will spend just in 2011.

...Former House Budget Committee staffer Stanley Collender told reporters last week that unless Obama and Congress are willing to take a scalpel to the Pentagon's budget, they'll be unable to control the mushrooming federal deficit.

Defense spending accounts for more than half of the federal government's "discretionary" outlays – those subject to annual adjustments. Because most federal dollars are committed to entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, plus interest payments on the national debt, lawmakers must look to cut discretionary accounts or raise taxes to balance the budget.

We're gonna fight fight fight. Bozobambam's latest war cry.

    Well listen up you blockhead.

You trying to overturn the constitution is something we will fight fight fight you over till we kick your mixed race ass down the road.

To a progressive the constitution is what prevents him from doing his dirty work.

Which is why the terrorist bambam said "The constitution is a flawed document'?

O really? Maybe is your corrupt lack of character that is flawed. Yeah I'm sure that's right.

May the great cloud wizard strike you dead.

In a classic case of lib double talk the head weasel bozobambam has included savings from Obamcare & revenue from a National Energy Surcharge in his 3.8 trillion $ budget.

    Dumbass buy a clue.
