As for Biden. I'm impressed . . . rather see him running for Prez.
Watched it today. Interesting. Overall Palin came across as, well vapid would be my choice of word. She did not f*ck up too much (she got one Generals name completely wrong several times). She looked highly rehersed, but not sure the brain was engaged. The old folksy, "I'm just a hockey mum, just like joe six pack" whine started to grate after a while.

Biden was, frankly impressive - BUT CNN had a "live feed audience reaction" at the bottom of the picture, and you could see that he was simply too "intellectual" - especially on pieces like the role of the vice president and he flat lined with the audience. Shame. he came over (to me) as confident, knowlegable and very in control.

Bottom line I suppose is I love my mum - but would not want her running the country.

Something just crossed my mind, say McCain wins and pops his clogs pretty soon after, now Palin is 44 (i think) and ain't that about the time when women go through the menopause, imagine a menopausal women with Americas nukes at her finger tips, now if that ain't a good enough reason to vote for Barry Obama i don't know what is.

Twice. And interestingly enough, Biden, the foreign policy god, said McLellan when he responded about the Afghan commander, too.

Probably just as well - if he had corrected her he would have been seen as 'condescending". Think Biden had a tough job and did it well.

Thanks. But, um, doesn't even Wasilla have a bigger population than this poll coverage?

UPDATED CBS News and Knowledge Networks have conducted a nationally representative poll of 473 uncommitted voters to get their immediate reaction to tonight's vice presidential debate.

read into it what you will but I am quite sure after reading all the information on this page that the election is well and truly over on the issues now.

^ Actually, Gwen should have corrected her. It doesn't mean Biden had to repeat her mistake as McClellan being the Afghan commander -- he just needed to say the correct name in his response.

Thanks for the red jet, but would have preferred an answer to the question. I am a Brit (and most likely older than you by the way), and so have no real horse in the race, and indeed, in UK politics would lean more to the conservative side (more like your republicans).

But hey - not answering the question was a forte of palin today. Must be a republican thing eh Jet?

Just think how much money America could save if McCain/Palin would just throw in the towel now instead of pointlessly carrying on with an already lost cause.

So, you will be voting for Cameron then? Brown did well as the chancellor but just can't handle the libbie crowds over there?

Again with the "you guys" Jet. My views are those of an outsider and they are mine as I formulate them- certainly not of any group. You are portraying a nasty habit of lumping people together who do not agree with your view point. Makes you look narrow minded to be honest.

Aside from mispronunciation of names and other minor gaffes which really are irrelevant, both accomplished what they set out to do.

Palin stuck to what she had knowledge of to the point of answering questions of economy and foreign affairs with how they all related to energy. Palin did what she had to do. She erased the stain brought on her ticket after the Corrick interview. Where I thought she was weak was in the area of countering Biden's assertions McCain was attached at the hip in supporting Bush policies. In the end she helped Palin but did little to help the campaign by moving some of the undecideds to McCain.

Biden was clearly more knowledgeable on most of the issues as would be expected given his age and experience. Unlike Palin who responded with generalities, Biden many times cited facts and figures. I believe he articulated in fairly simple terms the difference between his ticket and McCains. Biden avoided any direct attacks on Palin which would have been counter productive but focused his critisim on McCain and his policies. He also avoided making any gaffes.

My assesment for what it's worth is if I had to pick a "winner" it would be Biden and I believe the polls will show this to be the case. Winner and loser considerations aside, the dabate will not change the dynamic of the campaign as it now stands. If Obama can hold the states he now has on the blue side all he needs is a win in one additional large state such as Florida to win the Presidency. The McCain campaign is in trouble and if it is to be turned around, McCain not Palin will have to turn it around.

erased? lightened perhaps, but by no means erased IMO. she has already been defined, and one 90 minute debate isn't going to change that.
americans aren't going to forget this sort of bs

there's no way mccain is going to 'turn around' his campaign. in fact, no one is going to turn around his campaign. the only hope mccain/palin have of winning next month will include one or more of the following:
    1. a huge gaffe on the part of obama or biden
    2. a nasty revelation about obama or biden is brought to the fore
    3. the remaining true 'undecideds' who live in ohio, virginia, colorado, nevada, NH, NC and florida, just can't bring themselves to vote for a black man for president.

at this point mccain is irrelevant to his campaign winning the election...IMO it's out of his hands. he could certainly still demolish his campaign by falling of a stage like bob dole, or having a 'senior' moment on youtube, but there's nothing he can do at this point to help his ticket win.

    yawn.
you posted a link that had nothing about stealing elections. when i called you on it, you sheepishly admitted that a search of the site had to be done to find the videos in question. no thanks. provide a link or piss off.

Look at the polling data, Jet.

You make a lot of very bold predictions based upon....I don't know what.

You cannot say "will" or "won't" at this point .
