regarding palin's competence, all anyone has to do is watch the interview to see how unprepared she was.

here is part one of the interview. she starts to pretend she knows what the 'bush doctrine' is at about the eight minute mark.

even after dodging the media for two weeks, she still couldn't get up to speed for this interview.

if she can't answer a few questions from charlie gibson without looking like a deer in the headlights, how is she going to handle putin?

and as a side note, she mispronounces 'nuclear' just like GWB...'nuculur'.

btw, all the usual suspects have posted about what an admirable job palin did in the interview, but not a single one of them provided a link to the actual video.

    i wonder why that is?

enough already, why don't they just admit it....she's not up to the job.

and those very same posters are exactly like mccain....they want to 'win' so badly, that they simply don't care that she's not qualified and they're putting the country at risk.

Nope, not a very good interview for Palin . . . did it annoy anyone else that every third word was 'Charly' . . . I think we all know the interviewer's name, straight out of the 'personalisation' handbook.

Ok, now something that bugs me about pretty much every politician; the inability to answer a question, even if it is posed three or four times.

I know that some questions are pitfalls, but these weren't, nor are so many . . . Geez, to get a straight answer . . . .

Well, even the Lefties are admitting Sarah held her own against a stacked deck in the form of a liberal interviewer:

TalkLeft: "Indeed, her eventual answer to the question is extremely sensible (unlike Bush and McCain's actual policies) and smart politics. She did not accept the premise of Gibson's question and then gave a sensible answer to the question." Also, a suggestion that fellow lefty blogs aren't helping the side by engaging in over-the-top responses, a piece of excellent advice that is sure to be ignored."

^Starting to get a bit redundant here.

Tell ya what...go here abcnews - and read the piece for yourselves. Any objective reader (operative term here = reader) will note Palin held her own against a stacked deck...

    AP Headline:
Palin tries to defend qualifications in interview
    Headlines you won't see:

Obama tries to defend his disturbing ties to criminals, terrorist, in interview.

Biden tries to defend crazy ideas in interview.

Associated Press tries to defend standards.

Charlie Gibson a liberal? That's laughable.

If she's flustered and at a loss when challenged by a softie MSM celebrity news personality, how's she going to respond to the challenges of running the country?

Have we ever had a candidate that was so sheltered and afraid to talk to the media? Put her in an unscripted interview situation and let's see how she does. Obama's been scrutinized for 14 months or more, why should this hysterical, wacko [at][at][at][at] get a free pass?

Can you specifically say what the "Bush Doctrine" is?

By it's very nature it's quite vague. It's certainly not something you can pin her down on.

Obama hasn't been scrutinized at all. He's gotten a free pass for Wright, Rezco, Ayers, and Fleagger. As well as his association with leftist organization ACORN.
Of his 2 years as senator he's spent 18 months campaigning for President. Does that count as experience?
What administrative experience does Obama have?
As far as legislative experience he has precious little of that.
Which world leaders did he meet prior to running for president?

Palin as far as administrative experience has more than McCain, Obama, and Biden put together.

Today after the interview CNN tried to draw some difference between Palins position on crossing borders to hunt down AL qaeda/Taliban extremists in Pakistan and she is for it when McCain is against it and trying to make some big issue out of the difference..

personally I feel that a VP should have their own mind and be some sort of balance to the President to provide a differing point of view not just be a brown nosing pacifier..so if that was their intention of pointing that out, for me they failed and looked more like grasping at straws..

It's been on the media for months, and the wingnut bloggers are still going red in the face about these and other Obama "lies".

But y'all have been missing the Palin thread in members, where the bitch gets all the heat she deserves.

The one who was confused about the “Bush Doctrine” was Gibson. Even Wikipedia’s description of the Bush Doctrine is more accurate than Charlie Gibson’s.

first of all, i'm not running to be the VP for a 72 year old cancer patient.

but yes, i know what it is. i probably couldn't have defined it perfectly, but i wouldn't have had to pretend like she did.

anyone who watches that interview knows she was pretending she knew what it was......by the way, someone needs to inform her that she's got a lot of 'tells'.

now that's she's bombed the interview, you boys predictably fall back to how she had "executive experience" running this office...

and btw, here's none other than john mccain during the primaries on experience....

I am prepared. I am prepared. I need no on-the-job training.

^ And rc eels his way outta another answer. That's your biggest prob, rc. You don't debate or answer anyone else's Qs, you just spout your hatred, sneers and ignorance. Priapic loser.

Actually it is hilarious that a 2 term Mayor of Wasilla AK is more qualified and has more executive experience than the democrat nominee for president.

    not this obama supporter.

because i know that the palin and mccain have to debate biden and obama in october.

palin won't be able to hide from the questions, and mccain won't be able to help looking like a 72 year old man who really should be home spending time with his grandkids.

    what's that then?
earl's question about the bush doctrine?
as i ALREADY posted, i'm sure others would be able to define it better than i could, but i wouldn't have had to try to pretend i knew what it was ---like palin lamely did.

anyway, to my understanding the definition of the bush doctrine has morphed over the last 7 years (that's what happens when 1. bush is involved, and 2. it's an absurd concept).
so, at this point in time i believe the bush doctrine declares that is it is the mission of the US to spread democracy throughout the world, and pre-emptively attack any soveriegn nation if cheney thinks it poses a risk.
