Didn't know all these folks lack manners and intelligence. Must be true if you say so.

Colin Powell (not that I think much of Powell any longer) talks about Palin and where the Repubs must go to become relevant again. He doesn’t think that much of her,.but does call her smart????????? WTF? Smart?

    Link: http://www.snackfeed.com/videos/detail/cf75cb6c-1938-102c-a525-00304897c9c6

And here is more news about what the rest on Americans think of Palin.

Excerpt: ...[T]hose Palin numbers are as hilarious as she is. Republicans worship her, the rest of us (including our independent friends) think she is an embarrassment to humanity. It's a win-win! They're happy with Palin, and we're happy that she continues to repulse independents, thus making them unelectable.

    Powell lashes out at Palin

Powell lashes out at Palin: I’m from the South Bronx, ‘and there’s nothing wrong with my value system.’»

In an interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria that will air this weekend, former Secretary of State Colin Powell sharply criticized the Republican party and its “value system,” taking particular aim at Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK):
Gov. Palin, to some extent, pushed the party more to the right, and I think she had something of a polarizing effect when she talked about how small town values are good. Well, most of us don’t live in small towns. And I was raised in the South Bronx, and there’s nothing wrong with my value system from the South Bronx.

And when they came to Virginia and said the southern part of Virginia is good and the northern part of Virginia is bad. The only problem with that is there are more votes in the northern part of Virginia than there are in the southern part of Virginia, so that doesn’t work.
Powell also said that with the changing demographics of America, the Republican party needs to start listening to minority communities, rather than “shouting” at them with “loaded statements” and “Republican principles and dogma.”

Think Progress » Powell lashes out at Palin: I’m from the South Bronx, ‘and there’s nothing wrong with my value system.’

Powell does raise an interesting point. The 'small town America' of The Waltons, and Little House on the Prairie is a distinct minority- most Americans live in cities and large towns like any other industrialised country.

Was the message that Palin was drumming home ultimately alienating to a majority of the Electorate? There is no question that this 'small town' or middle America is, mainly, pro Republican- but in pandering to that minority, which was safely theirs anyway, did they miss the bigger picture. Powell thinks so anyway.

Limbaugh Blasts Powell for Criticizing Palin

Limbaugh Blasts Powell for Criticizing Palin and GOP, Calls Him a 'Turncoat'

Rush Limbaugh isn’t letting Colin Powell get away with trashing him in public.
The conservative talk-show host unleashed a litany of complaints against Powell during his show Monday, calling him a “turncoat” for supporting Barack Obama, and someone who did “certainly nothing exceptional, you’re no George Marshall,” when he was national security adviser and chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.
Rush’s wrath came after Powell, President Bush’s former secretary of state, told CNN that Republicans should stop listening to Limbaugh and said Sarah Palin helped polarize the party this election season.

Now, Limbaugh is arguing that the GOP hasn’t been listening to him – as evidenced by its selection of John McCain as the party’s 2008 presidential nominee.

Here are some of the juicier parts of what Limbaugh said:

You know what really has Colin Powell upset, it’s because I said his endorsement of Obama was about race, and I’m not supposed to say those things … The Republican Party nominated Powell’s perfect candidate. The guy’s going after moderates, independents, Democrats, a guy who is not conservative at all, McCain, didn’t stand up for much conservative, and he’s out there now saying he won’t support Palin if she seeks the presidency again, or he might not.
What’s going on here with this Colin Powell thing is that the Washington establishment — Powell’s not a Republican. McCain’s not a Republican. These guys are not even mavericks. They are Washingtonians. Washingtonians have their own culture and their own desires, and it is to matter.
There are exceptional military men and women throughout our nation who could have served as national security adviser or chairman of the chief joints of staff, to quote Rita X, many ex-military people who could have been the secretary of state. Hell, Hillary can do it, anybody can do it. I’m sure you did a good job, General Powell, certainly nothing exceptional, you’re no George Marshall. But I can’t think of a single occasion where Secretary Powell stepped up to the plate for the Republican Party or the conservative movement.
How can you even claim to be a Republican, General Powell? When have you ever stuck your neck out for Republicans and conservatives? Never. I mean sabotage George W. Bush with the Armitage leak and Scooter Libby, that’s just one thing, but Ronald Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 43 all helped advance General Powell’s career."
General Powell has no vision. He is not in touch with the public in any meaningful way. He’s a Washingtonian. He’s not in touch with the public. He lives in a bubble so he doesn’t have to expose himself to contrary arguments.
He said nobody lives in small towns and that’s why they’re small. "I’m from the Bronx. Something wrong with my values" he asked. What is this hatred for conservatives and small town people and Sarah Palin? It’s because they are effective. They represent challenges to the Washingtonians’ control of the Republican Party. I know a lot of people that are from the Bronx, General Powell, and if you think the values there in the Bronx today reflect the ones you grew up with, take a trip back and see if the street corners and the activities there are the same as when you were growing up, General Powell.

Republicans really should listen to Rush Limbaugh less, but this highly paid radio show talk host had to defend his turf I guess.

In addition to the posts on this thread, I have a question.

As I do not listen to Limbaugh, does Limbaugh like & support Palin.

    Is he "pro-Palin" basically?

^ Limbo is a populist Right Wing Bimbo. He reaches an audience, and is paid upwards of $20mm annually for doing so. To the likes of Pat Buchanan, George Will and the late William Buckley he's a bit of an embarassment really.

He thinks Sarah could have won the election!

I tried to wiki and google, to find out what Limbaugh average number of listeners are, I can never find the number. I'm sure it's out there.

He thinks Sarah could have won the election!
Yes, he's an embarrassment. He's an entertainer. He's not very insightful. Once in a while he reads an article snippet from a newspaper, and then spins it. The callers that make it though are heavily screened, to promote the agenda.

If he thought Palin could win, he's slipping a lot.

I bet that his listening audience numbers have declined.

His target market audience may be getting smaller as the country has changed and the attitudes of Americans have changed.

In a country as large as US, (population wise), just about any nutter can find a big enough following to extract a living.

Palins only real claim to fame now is that she was an air head embarrassment to the country and that made her a very controversial figure. Its ironic that if she had been more sensible she would have been long forgotten by now.

People tend to remember the "odd ones" who stand out as different, even if its for all the wrong reasons. I suppose you could call it the idiots hall of fame.

Limbaugh's radio show airs weekdays for three hours daily, beginning at 12 noon Eastern time in the U.S. It also is carried worldwide over the Armed Forces Radio Network , and in some markets is carried on FM stations.

As of 2006, Arbitron ratings indicated that The Rush Limbaugh Show had a minimum weekly audience of 13.5 million listeners, making it the largest radio talk show audience in the United States.

On July 2, 2008, Matt Drudge reported that Limbaugh signed a contract extension through 2016 that is worth over $400 million, breaking records for any broadcast medium — television or radio.
