Actually that is a very good point.

There seems to be some kind of mutual dependency between the worshipper and the worshipped. God (allah or whatever they call him) appear rather fixated upon being praised and respected.

The true sign of a feeble mind, if you ask me.

Yes, worship is a god's food, without it they just wither away. That's what happened to Zeus and Quetzalcoatl and Horus, worshippers went away and the gods starved to death. That's why they need us.

(now lets see how many take that seriously )

Nietzsche reflected your thoughts in a parable. Unlike the religion of his times which cast him as a heretic, IMO he was pointing out our "gods" exist and are cast aside as we choose.

"Where has God gone?" he cried. "I shall tell you. We have killed him - you and I. We are his murderers."

His message in the parable was gods will always be perishable until we as humans become god like ourselves.

"Must we not ourselves become gods simply to be worthy of it? There has never been a greater deed; and whosoever shall be born after us - for the sake of this deed he shall be part of a higher history than all history hitherto."

    Nietzsche God is dead quote

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect,"

Have a look in issues, several of the posters there think they're omniscient and omnipresent. Offhand I'd say Emperor Tud, Accidental Ajaran, and paulsmithson are polishing up their resumes right now.

It's not a position. It is a state of mind. All are candidates.

i think gentleman you are all way off and this is clearly demonstrated in the quite brilliant American documentary film blood diamond, where by a slip up from a demi-god, leo decaprio(he's so dreamy) he lets us in on the secret of what actually is the case of the apparent mystical one known as 'god'!

Sometimes I wonder if God will ever forgive us for what we've done to each other...Then I look around and I realize... God left this place a long time ago.

so there you go i hope this all eases your minds about god.

no need to thank me im just doing my job!
im hot its so hot today.......milk was a bad choice!

"I refuse to prove that I exist" says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith, I am nothing."

From what I am able to discern the god of the Old Testament is an impulsive, selfish all-powerful adolescent that one can negotiate with if one believes they have the wits and balls to do so. The Jews of old worshiped a bratty child. The god of the New Testament is Lurve.

the funny thing about god is that people use him to make either good or bad things happen, and mostly the bad is incredibly worst then what is given as the good, with also the aspect that most moral people would be so anyway without god.

So it is a shame that we have this infringement of most rights and laws allowed to exist because of an incoherent scared childish mob collated by psychological misunderstanding of the world they live in, but that is unfortunately life!!!!!!!

of course the biggest giveaway is that 99 x out of 100 you have to pay for your faith, in regards to money or with something tragically more priceless, precious and profound, ones life!!!!!

    Tis a damn shame........

It is said that every time humans have tried to create heaven on earth, they have only achieved in doing the exact opposite.

i agree and its just plain silly to spend your one life in preperation for the nothing that belies it after your dead.

however, heaven is this earth, is this life, if you were to know anything it is the now and this is it. Be happy and revel in it, make of it as you wish....................

I don't know about that. Let's say you were 0.001% certain there was a life after death, and that actions during your short stint on earth would affect your afterlife, you would have to be pretty stupid not to do something about it.

Less than 100 years of (insert sacrifice here) on earth leading to an eternity of bliss and happiness,

    vs.

Less than 100 years of enjoyment leading to an eternity of hell and damnation.

Since the potential payback is infinite (eternity), even a microscopic chance of an afterlife would justify whatever it takes to improve your odds.

The real question is why not more of us are religious....
Any error in tact, fact or spelling is purely due to transmissional errors...

no i think your probability factor is not realistic 0.0001 % ???????????

thats a terrible odd to go by

even 50 / 50 to me is dubious and yet what your saying to me sounds like lunacy not revelation or pragmatic understanding.......

why would you have less than 100 years in one life to spend an infinite in the other?, the Buddhist reincarnation theory makes more sense then that!

Look scientifically known that your body dies, your brain dies you are no more apart from a decomposing mass, some people dont like this thought and that there is nothing after, they do not continue!!!!! hell i didnt like the thought either. That doesnt mean i choose to live my life by some vague unscientific analogy or story, i would rather face my fear and understand the truth of the matter which is clearly not laid out to us in any instance involving an afterlife at all!

i mean justify your odds, cause to me if you bet like that you've clearly never won anything on that premise???

The real question is not why arent more of us religious because we all are!
That doesnt mean in just deity religion or of any other practice of kind but we are of course religious in some way by some means to something.

If people choose to lead their lives in some way fine, however strange or unrelaistic even if it is in a dream a false reality, the past the future whatever, but if that constant becomes a collative force that disrupts other human beings and has privileges or rights over them or to the detriment of others even causing death for something as poxy as fear of the unknowing world after death.............
then im afraid i would disagree and say that sir is silly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
