I can feel my ass getting warm already but non the less here goes my take on this:

I watched this piece on CNN this morning and the US Military spokesman stressed these were videos taken during an AQ training session. Not actual footage of a kidnapping.

AQ is at war with the west we can all agree, yes? The west is at war with AQ we can all agree, yes? AQ is training it's young in the use of weapons and tactics, in their training camps. The west is training it's young in the use of weapons and tactics in Military Academies.

Would it be news worthy or a big shock to see a video of a bunch of young kids doing their thing at a Military Academy in the US or UK. No!!!

Having said that, I do believe AQ will use these young boys no matter what their age in the real thing whereas you won't see any 8 year old Military Academy boys from the US or UK in combat.

High school teenagers, 16- 17year-olds, drill, marching, Junior ROTC stuff, physical fitness -- perfectly acceptable.

Target practice is acceptable, but training for explosives, snatch/grabs ect certainly isnt.

But guys, this is what AQ have in their arsenal and this is what their tactics are so this is how they train. Do I agree with it hell no but the objectives are the same as training our young. How to win the war!

BTW Tex I have an 8 year old grand nephew who goes to a military academy in Virgina. He can field strip an M-16 faster than I ever could. You can imagine some of the conversation my nephew and I have over this.

He's 12 now not 8 and does go to a military academy in Virginia (can't remember which one) but I think it's this one The Leading Military School / Boarding School for Boys - Fork Union Military Academy. When I last saw him at 8 years old he could field strip an M-16 as his dad is an avid gun collector. Doubt that is in the school curricula.

The point obviously lost to your feeble intellect is that the ghastly illegal occupation of Iraq is the cause of the nationalist rebellion and not the consequence.

The responsibility for the obscenity of child soldiers in Iraq lies fair and square with those on whose behalf you seem to be bleating.

We have no business being in Iraq and the hapless squaddies there deserve everything that the callow politicians back home don't get.
