yes, ive heard the dagos are becoming anti tourist and who can blame them. when visiting big cities we usually base ourselves in a decent gaff in the central area and take a bus or train to an outlying area for daily mooching around. the museums, art galleries and monuments hold little interest , can see it all on you tube without the crowds, although we are always drawn to a decent medieval cathedral or church.
getting lost on public transport, wandering the suburbs and outlying towns is usually less frenetic and usually more rewarding.

did istanbul many years ago on my way to india, no desire to return. preferred greece and iran, but iran is a no go these days.

The modernisation of the European side of the Horn ( no fucking double-entendres pulleeeaaase David ) melding with the old is the intriguing aspect that has marked IstanbulÂ’s development since those days, Tax.

My infancy was spent there in the early 50s and there is a cine film clip of me at the gate of our residence shouting at the gypsy Turk who was peddling his dancing bear for money.

Now, Istanbul has a buzz to rival any western city but retains its uniqueness. Been there many times over the years. Nowhere like it, at all. ItÂ’s one of those places, a bit like Hong Kong, where you can just sit and take it all in and never feel bored.

When you drive through supposedly Tory safe seats and there's Labour placades and window stickers on every street it gives an unprecedented look into the record landslide win that is in the pipeline on the 4th July without the need for polls or punctuation

Yeah, a travesty and a waste of a potential local workforce.

It's not as though there isn't the need or vacancies.
Labour need to be strong on this issue but I somehow doubt it.

Coax the inactive back into the workplace via voluntary day placements or retraining schemes.

If they still refuse then take away their benefits, get them filling the pot holes in the roads ffs

And what is so utterly depressing is that the Tories simply cannot bring themselves to concede their current predicament is simply a consequence of the ERG Brexit that effectively destroyed the old Conservative party to replace it with the Brexitory shambles that has now earned the accolade of being the worst government in post war political history.

It's not difficult to understand why. In much the same way advancement in the Nazi party was solely based on oneÂ’s ability to attribute all ills of the German Reich to Jews and Bolshevism, selection for government in service of the ERGÂ’s champion and hero, BoJo the Clown, was founded, not on any talent, skill or ability, but on oneÂ’s devotion to Brexit.

The result of course has been a succession of three governments distinguished by incompetence, stupidity, arrogance and plain simple malice simply because all the talented and reliable folk have been driven out of the party.

In all my time since the 1960s I have never seen a Tory party so utterly devoid of any worth.

    They deserve obliteration.

And I forecasted this would happen several years ago. I shall dig out the relevant post from the Brexit thread.

Predictable since the Tory's pressed the self destruct button that was the Brexit referendum.
The only surprise is the Reform Party getting any attention.

    Stupid is what stupid does.

He'll eat Tory votes that would have gone to Libs, Labour...................(.they have more parties than that ?)

Probably won't be a threat in Scotland this time.

( I have no idea but it's fun to participate in this circus )

On my last drive through a supposedly Tory safe seat, I saw zero Conservative posters outside houses. I counted three for Labour and nine for the Lib-Dems. Perhaps the Tory voters are shy this time round.

He'll get elected in Clacton. Predictions range from 0 to 7 seats for reform. I reckon they'll get 2 or 3. Hardly enough to be called the opposition and doubt Farage will turn up very often in parliament after the first couple of months.

I like how they have placed Putin in the background watching over it. Probably too subtle for Farage supporters to grasp.

In general, people will get what they vote for, even with a low turnout.

Are Clacton voters really dumb enough to elect a parasite like Farage? That seat was hand picked for him. His last chance to become an MP.

Tax, you are becoming more Russian by the day in your obduracy and myopia.

I said right from the beginning, over seven years ago, that Brexit would: kill the £, cost 4% of GDP in lost trade, marginalise Britain as a global force in international politics, and destroy the Conservative Party.

So, where did I go wrong?

In fairness, all of those things were buried in the massive list of things SA would go horribly wrong.

    s.a.

Tax, you are becoming more Russian by the day in your obduracy and myopia.

brexit did none of those things.

tory decline was due to its move to the left and its unwillingness to take full advantage of brexit.

covid and ukraine and a brilliantly ruthless leftist media/net machine delivered the coup de grace.

europe is now but a pale shadow of what it was 5 years ago, its creaking, rusty and self destructive. an accurate prediction made by myself many times in the brexit thread if you must know. china will swallow it for breakfast, if russia doesnt impoverish it first. the uk needs to look west to uncle sam, not east to micron and the incompetents of brussels.

5 years of the kneeler and his spiteful gobshites will do more damage to the uk than anything else. they are lining up to kick him out.

any brit with a few bob and any sense should be making plans.

and dont give up your day job reading palms at the end of the pier......clacton pier.
