There are primaries before every election Harry.

Did you forget about Nikki Haley already? And Biden was uncontested this year, but people could still vote uncommitted, and there were a couple outsiders in a few states.

A poll released Sunday found that 72% of registered voters believe that US President Joe Biden does not possess the mental and cognitive health required to serve as head of state.

The survey, conducted by CBS News/YouGov, comes amid growing concern over whether Biden is mentally fit for office following the first live presidential debate on Thursday ahead of November presidential elections.

The poll indicated that 45% of Democrats believe that Biden should withdraw from the presidential race due to health concerns.

When asked about former President Donald Trump’s mental and cognitive fitness for the presidency, 50% responded yes and 49% no.

The debate, held by CNN, intensified discussions about Biden’s capability for a second term. Despite Trump not gaining a clear advantage, Biden’s performance did little to alleviate concerns about his age.

In the lead-up to the Nov. 5, 2024 presidential election, Biden and Trump faced off in their first live debate. Biden's performance failed to alleviate concerns over his age and fitness for a second term, drawing heavy criticism in the aftermath.

Amid growing calls for Biden to withdraw, Texas Republican representative Chip Roy filed a resolution calling on Vice President Kamala Harris to convene the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment of the US Constitution and exercise powers as acting president.

Roy's resolution said that Biden "has repeatedly and publicly demonstrated an inability to discharge the powers and duties of the presidency, including the powers and duties of the Commander-in-Chief."

According to the 25th Amendment, the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet may vote to declare a president "unable to discharge the powers and the duties of his office" and give the vice president the duties of acting president.

There's always the throw away vote:
    RFK, Jr
    Jill Stein
    Cornel West
    Chase Oliver
....or any other numerous candidates from the odd assorted political affiliations.

All of which are not allowed to truly participate in this great exercise of democracy [not], nor are allowed, legally, to be registered as a presidental candidate on many state's ballots.

    American style oligarchical democracy.

Do you think it's unreasonable for candidates to have to demonstrate that their registration isn't frivolous?

Think how many nutters there are in the US.

So with SCOTUS saying the president is immune or he might not be and then sending it back to the lower courts, they've done exactly what he wanted them to do and kicked the can down the road, so probably no trial before the election.

I have never watched a complete Piers video before, but here he is the sane one.

    Here we go :

Democratic congressman calls on President Biden to resign

    OF

    East Meesenburg

As the first Democratic congressman, Lloyd Doggett is calling on President Joe Biden to withdraw as a candidate for president.

"I recognize that — unlike Trump — Biden's most important commitment has always been to our country, not himself," Doggett said in a press release, according to the news agency AP.

"I hope that he will make the painful and difficult decision to resign.

The call comes after Biden's debate against former President Donald Trump. Biden's performance was described by several quarters as uncertain.

Lloyd Doggett is a member of the House of Representatives.

Looking forward to Jill, Joe and Landreath's last stand

Well well well, it's all falling apart isn't it.

Donald Trump's 11 July sentencing on charges stemming from hush money paid to a porn star may be delayed after prosecutors said they don't object to giving the former US president a chance to argue he should have been immune from prosecution.
Trump's lawyers on Monday (local time) asked that they be permitted to argue his conviction in New York state court in Manhattan should be set aside due to the US Supreme Court's ruling this week that presidents are entitled to immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts.
Trump faces an uphill battle getting the conviction overturned, since much of the conduct at issue in the case predated his time in office.
But prosecutors' agreement to delay the sentencing makes it more likely Justice Juan Merchan will push back the date and consider the immunity argument. Any delay of sentencing would lift the spectre of Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, facing possible confinement just days before the Republican National Convention begins in Milwaukee on 15 July.

Many calling but Joe is not listening. Dems are stuck with Joe so better get going on getting the undecided votes in battleground states out if they want to defeat Frump.

President Biden should send a Navy Seal team into the Supreme Court building and off a few justices. Hopefully they get Justice Thomas first.

With that bizarre Supreme court ruling the US has just been surrendered to demagoguery and mob rule.

As I have said on may occasions, Americans are as stupid as lumpen Russians and clearly a conspiracy of Republican rabble rousers, given the spurious cloak of respectability by shill justices, are suborning the Constitution.

Biden should suspend the Supreme court, sack those Republican slugs and appoint genuine judges to uphold democracy and justice.

    Correct.

There is nothing in the constitution that could reasonably be interpreted the way SCOTUS has done it.

    What an absolute fucking joke.

Well as others have said, he could have all the Republican Supreme Court justices offed and just call it "official business".
