It's not the question of a free pass. It's your total lack of objectivity. Your problem appears to be you have a deep seated hatred of the U.S.A and its influence over the western world.
The U.S.A. acts as it does because it can. No different to the roman empire the british empire etc. Putin and Xi dont resent what America does around the world, they resent America because they try to prevent them from doing the same.
The Ukraine war is all about gaining territory resources and influence for the Russians and for the Americans it is about decreasing Russias military power and influence to where it can no longer be a threat influentially or militarily to the USA and to that end the Americans have already won. The amount of destruction and degradation of the Russian military machine and decline of Russia into a minor G20 economy will hold it back for years to come. The amount of money spent by the USA is a pittance to what it already has and will achieve from this conflict. It has been trying for years to get its western allies to increase military spending which increases Americas military dominance and influence above China and Russia by proxy and has achieved in two years what it could not do in the last 30 years.
In all that, the fact that the Ukrainian cause IMO is a just one and the fact is it is no longer acceptable to invade another country and bomb and kill its civilians to increase a countries borders (yes spare me the whatabouts) justifies the USA/western response.
Sadly for you all of your posts without any acknowledgement of that one simple fact in your aparent justification of the war destroys any credibility you may have had on this topic.
