Of course, most children actually follow their parents words/orders. Then follow their teachers/peer group "advice/order/pressure, as they mature/get older.
"Eat your Greens, they're good for you", " go to sleep or you'll be tired in the morning", "do your homework/piano practice", "clean your teeth", "homework to be page", "revise, we'll have a test on Friday", "we're off to the cinema/dance/food store, you should come along, Susan will be there" ....

Anyways I'm guessing what you're driving at is a variation on the hackneyed and hoary 'children should be seen and not heard' which is just intrinsically outmoded and outdated to begin with and in the context of them wanting to make the planet a better place also exceedingly short-sighted. If you're going to dismiss the opinions of young people based on some arbitrary notion of a qualifying age then you're going to miss an awful lot.
Err, thanks for the life story but I rather feel you've missed my point somewhat.Originally Posted by OhOh

A video illustrating the growth, shrinkage and flow of a number of Alaska's glaciers for the last 48 years. Images captured by satellites, cut together to form a continuous video.
Interesting and informative factual evidence that glaciers grow, shrink and flow. I would suggest that, in my opinion, there is no evidence of the glaciers drastically shrinking.

Cool... Except there actually is evidence of it -- even your own linked vdo doesn't support your opinion to the contrary -- so whilst you're entitled to your own opinion you can't have your own facts.Originally Posted by OhOh

Christ, the idiocy proudly flaunted every day on this forum still boggles my mind after all these years.
wtf else is supposed to be raising sea levels?
phuketbound taking a dip?
The video I posted indicates some Alaska's glaciers growing, flowing, shrinking, growing ..... for the last 48 years, none of which have disappeared.
Unless you have a time stamp, from the video I posted, which illustrates your assertion, I remain unconvinced.
Your attached video, post #744, indicates some areas were covered with glaciers, some time ago, and some melted, leaving obvious valleys and terminal moraines.
Unfortunately your years of existence is miniscule compared to cycles of earth cooling and warmings.
I suggest that to become hysterical over an alleged current change is somewhat misplaced. But your opinion is yours, just don't expect all to hold the same opinion and get wound up about naturally occurring events
The facts are that; glaciers have grown and shrunk for millennia. With or without humans having any impact.
Causing higher level in a warming phase and lower level in a cooling phase.
Your video post # 745 is an ad from a person/guide, who takes tourists to visit his local glacier. For money no doubt or maybe a donation. He's been around his local glacier since 2003, 16 years. A somewhat limited time period relative to the glaciers age, I suspect.
Judging by my posted video and your video at post # 744 glaciers are created by increased snow fall. Once they reach a certain depth of compressed snow/ice, by gravity, the base becomes fluid, due to weight above. They then start sliding, due to gravity. Eventually, some reach the sea and drop into it, others melt and form rivers, which again, some reach the sea. Some others never make it far due to the mountains blocking any further movement.
Causing higher sea levels in a warming phase and lower level in a cooling phase. A natural occurrence.
So some glaciers in Alaska are in a constant state of flux, a point which precisely nobody has disputed, and haven't disappeared over 48 years and you think this somehow proves that all glaciers worldwide aren't disappearing...Originally Posted by OhOh
I don't think you've thought this one all the way through.
Yeah OK sure, why bother taking on board objective evidence and science when you can just cling to your own opinion.Originally Posted by OhOh

Whatever you do don't research or look any further beyond your current misinterpretation of it to discover their research and findings into the issue of global warming and effects on glaciers in particular.
Because you'll be disappointed.
