I'm not sure what your point is. So China is industrialising and, as a consequence, its energy use is increasing. This is bad but how is this relevant? I quoted the figure on Chinese poverty because you said that China had a high living style (sic). The increase in Chinese car ownership hardly obviates the need of Americans dramatically to rethink how they organise their society if they are to have any chance of avoiding really serious problems.

Granted, But there are a lot of Chinese that do live a very good life and have no money worries, drive new cars, live in nice homes, eat in nice places, I was surprised when I was there how it has changed over the years, and it is changing for the better? very fast.
There are also a lot of people living in the USA that have no jobs and live on a few dollars a day too.
The US pumps more oil a day than China uses, they pump about 1/2 the oil they use, but they burn more than that in the cars and trucks too, without that they would be very close to energy proficency.

Who mentioned illegals ? As I understand it if your illegal in the US your there to work for cash .

Some do, Most do not.
There are also millions of Illegal Aliens that have kids in the states and draw welfare on them, plus some draw welfare and housing assistance, medical care and cash, who have never worked and will never work, They have broke the ERs in most hospitals and they have had to shut them and the trauma centers because of unpaid doctor bills.
Not all illegal aliens are upstanding, hard working people, there is a lot of unfilled jobs in Mexico and the Maquiladoras are always looking for workers, but it is easier to sneak into the liberal welfare country of Estadas Unitas De America and draw welfare and get free housing and medical care.
Just the state of California pays out close to 3 bil $ a year to illegal aliens and there is nothing they can do about it, it is against the rules for a cop to even ask to see a passport or ask if they are in the country illegal.
