Now you have made your vague comment clearer i apologise. I'm not sure what my argument is, i made a statement about the long term causes of the mess the UK is in and you start a tirade about the current Govt...as usual and get all grouchy.

Given the British state pension is the worst in the developed world I doubt very much one is about to jump into the air in gratitude for it when it does come round but then one must assume that Stiglice's prospects are so impoverished he must think it worth putting up with all the Tory induced fuckwittery.

Apropos Cyril's brother decamping to France he should take into account the expense of obtaining health insurance - free entry into the French system is available to EU nationals but only if they are economically active ( employed or trading in a business ) or have already qualified as permanent residents but if they are settling as persons of independent means then private medical insurance is a requirement. No big deal but once one hits 65> then annual premiums are in the order of £4,000-£6,000 and rising with the passage of time.

The state pension wouldn't even cover that expense.

I should hope not too, that would be fraudulent as one has to pay into the pot for 30 years to qualify.
    Tax dodgers shouldn't benefit.

67 upwards. Thank goodness i don't need it but some do despite their complaints about how poor the UKs Govt pension is even though they never earned it.

If you have "gaps" in your NI contributions you receive a smaller pension. The "State" utilises the NI income during your working life.

The government of the day determines the value of your investments and the % increase on an annual basis.

State pension to rise 2.5% with triple lock in 2021/22; lifetime allowance up 0.5%

"The triple lock's 2.5% rule is set to be triggered following a low CPI annual rate and low earnings figures, offering pensioners 2% above inflation. This Wednesday the CPI annual rate for the year to September was revealed to be 0.5%, while earnings figures, released in July, stood at -1%.

As a result, the 2.5% rule on the triple lock will kick in, offering pensioners 2% above inflation.

Pensioners on the new state pension will see a rise of £4.40 a week to £179.60 and those on the old state pension will see a rise of £3.40 a week to £137.65.

Aegon pensions director Steven Cameron said: "The state pension is not funded in advance but on a ‘pay as you go' basis from today's workers' National Insurance contributions. The chancellor will no doubt be facing difficult decisions over whether he can afford to retain the triple lock as he supports the economy through wave two of the pandemic and looks ahead to getting the nation's finances back on track."

The triple lock guarantees the basic state pension will rise in line with the highest of earnings, inflation or 2.5%.

Quilter pension expert Ian Brown pointed out that, despite the Conservative's manifesto pledge to keep the triple lock in place, the Department for Work and Pensions has discretion in setting the rate at which state pension benefits will increase, and are yet to confirm the exact figure they will use in 2021/22 - although a 2.5% increase is widely expected.

He added: "This is despite a challenging economic backdrop in which many workers are taking a cut to their pay packet, are working fewer hours than they would like, or have lost their jobs altogether.

"But even more contentious is the fact that once the furlough scheme ends later this year and if wages recover, in its current form the triple lock will provide an artificially large boost to state pension income in 2022/23 when we could be in the clasp of a deep recession and when the government is struggling to control the deficit."

One month into Brexit and the NI protocol looks to be in tatters. Gove is already trying to get an extension to the 3month grace period.

It looks like the UK fisheries were sold a bummer as well. The high profit shellfish industry looks like it's on the verge of panic with the EU not allowing unprocessed live shellfish. That's not much good for oysters and scallops or even mussels.

Still, it's not as if you weren't told a zillion million times it would all go horribly wrong...

This thread title is no longer appropriate. Brexit, to all intents and purposes, is done and dusted.
Moderators are requested to institute a new thread, perhaps entitled, “What now for the EU?”

This might stop the remain bedwetters from re-posting the same boring moans about losing the plot, repeatedly moaning about it.
The daily moan thread is an ideal repository for such repetitive bilge. Even a change of government is unlikely to undo brexit, so why keep crying about it you miserable malcontents?

If brexiters are so disinterested, then why are they continually returning to the thread to make the same utterly fatuous comment?

Obviously Brexit is the dumbest of dumb moves, and noting the evidence piling up is not the same as thinking it will be reversed.

How about a counter argument of Brexit successes?

Oh yes, I see the problem there....

Three things about that " success ": It ain't British, it's designed by the French and made in Poland, and it ain't blue, it's been blue-black for as long as I can remember - I still have mine issued 1969.

    Everything about Brexit is bogus.

Truly, a piteous thing indeed but somewhat inevitable given it was spawned by the stupid manipulated by charlatans and implemented by the worst government in British political history led by a fat, stunted, dishevelled ,sex-addicted, narcissistic sociopath who quite literally can't keep his cock in his pants or tell the truth.

Its great that you recognise, despite your ongoing bile that the UK is still an open trading country welcome to all.

So, in that case, Stiglice, what is it that the UK is going to sell to the world that it couldn't before Brexit?

The question is Seekingareturntoeurope, what can the UK buy now that it didn't before. I for one am looking forward to the EU twisting and turning over the forthcoming years, introducing ever more stupid ill considered rules and excuses for suppressing imports and restricting trade.

We should start a demise of the EU thread.

Yes but there is nothing like rapping it across some foreign toady's knuckles with the exclamation of "Stand Aside knave! The Queen commands you let me pass freely!".

At which point they tug their forelocks, stand aside and mutter "Yes guv".

    Or so I'm told.
