The most bizarre thing about this election is that the Tories have increased their share of the vote from approx 37% in 2015 to 42% yet they've lost their majority of seats. Why? Because the UKIP (and SNP and greens) vote collapsed and more of their voters went to labour than the Tories, who increased their share of the vote massively from 30% to 40%.

We're back to two party politics.

^ She needed the bulk of the fleeing UKIP SNP and green vote and shot herself in the foot by refusing to engage their leaders in debates.

On present figures, that translates to 12,300,000 for Labour, Tory 12,800,000.

The hilarious thing about May's gambit fucking up is that membership of the EU single market and free movement is now more of a reality.

    Excellent result.

^^ No, I think we'll have another election and the Tories will get their majority back. However, May will be gone and that's for the best as she's proved she lacks the judgement to be the person to lead debates with EU leaders.

She's probably appealing to the DUP now but it's not a good fix.

    It's a real muddle.

May got 5% more of the vote than Cameron got yet the party is now weaker. Does she resign despite the vote improvement?

Corbyn has proved that he can't beat the Tories and normally a losing leader quits yet he has massively improved his party's standing to be a realistic opposition (or even heaven help us, PM). Is he a success or a failure? Does he stay on or quit?

It truly is amazing just how thick you Brexit monkeys and shills truly are.

There is no "debate" with the EU, there is no negotiation where the UK tells the EU what to do, there is nothing except, " if you want free trade, the single tariff market and passporting of your financial services then you will have to accept free movement and the ECJ". In agreeing to this, the EU will probably let the UK go about its new found entrepreneurial vigour and negotiate whatever deals it wants with whomsoever. It will also expect a reasonable contribution towards the EU admin costs. But the main thing for the British Kipper twat and its right wing cousin in the Tory party and the Labour idiots, they will be permitted to think they have taken back control, whatever that fucking means - presumably, the right to have shitty beaches, dirty rivers, polluted air and the bendiest, bent fucking bananas in Europe.

Well done to Corbyn and Labour who managed to stop the desiccated bitch in her tracks, despite an aggressively negative campaign against him in the media.

Sense has prevailed and the brakes have been applied.

Now it's down to the Lid-Dems to see who they partner with... I wonder how short their memory is.?

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

If it were not for the Scots, Corbyn might have been PM.

Once again, Lowland Scots have stabbed their own in the back as they did at Culloden.

From listening to the turncoats one might have thought the SNP had lost their majority which if course is still handsome and more than justifies the call for independence.

Strong tables built on cock sucking proddie Irish plantation orphans - yep, that's the British government from now on.

    Har, har.

After being up all night had to get a few hours sleep, just woke up expecting the FTSE to have been down 200 points but its up. Final Tory figure of 317/8 is actually quite a relief at one point earlier thought they would struggle to hit 300 and Corbyn might end up in no.10. Got to love those Bonny Scots who saved the day though electing 11 or 12 mps.

Man armed with knife 'holds job centre staff'
    • Staff at a Jobcentre in Newcastle are being held by a man armed with a knife.]
The armed man entered the premises on Clifford Street in Byker at about 08:00 BST. Several members of staff are thought to be held there, police said.
Police negotiators are at the scene and the roads around the premises have been closed as a precaution.
Northumbria Police said the man responsible was known to the Jobcentre and it was being treated as an isolated incident at this stage.

Had a gander at the DUP manifesto and I have to say I am a little worried. It's basically the Old Testament with fortnightly bin collections.
