Donald Trump’s homeland security adviser, Tom Bossert, resigned on Tuesday.
In a statement, the White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders, said: “The president is grateful for Tom’s commitment to the safety and security of our great country.
“Tom led the White House’s efforts to protect the homeland from terrorist threats, strengthen our cyber defenses, and respond to an unprecedented series of natural disasters. President Trump thanks him for his patriotic service and wishes him well.”
Bossert’s resignation was first reported by Bloomberg News.
A veteran of the George W Bush administration, Bossert had served Trump since he took office in 2017.
Bossert’s portfolio included responses to natural disasters like hurricanes as well as cyber security. He became the subject of unwelcome attention in August 2017, when he responded to a British email prankster pretending to be Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser.
Bossert is the latest of a number of advisers and cabinet members to leave the Trump administration and follows National Security Council spokesman Michael Anton as the second staffer with national security responsibilities to leave since John Bolton’s installation as national security adviser.

Carter: Trump should avoid nukes; nation must bridge divides
ATLANTA (AP) — Expressing pride in his own record of peace, former President Jimmy Carter warned that President Donald Trump should steer clear of any military action involving Syria or other world hot spots and avoid a nuclear attack at all costs.
12 April 2918
"I pray that he would keep our country at peace and not exaggerate or exacerbate the challenges that come up with North Korea, in Russia or in Syria," Carter said in an interview Wednesday. "I hope he realizes very profoundly as I did, and as other presidents have done, that any nuclear exchange could involve catastrophe for all human beings."
----
In his tenth decade of life, Carter said he remains confident that U.S. Christians and the wider electorate can navigate a factional era — the church by emphasizing its core doctrinal principle of faith in Jesus Christ, the nation by recommitting to a belief in fairness and equal opportunity.
"There are reasons to have concern for the future," Carter said, "but the moral principles and ethical principles that have been guiding lights are still there."

WASHINGTON CIA Director Mike Pompeo failed to disclose last year that he owned a Kansas business that imported oilfield equipment from a company owned by the Chinese government.
That omission, on the questionnaire Pompeo was required to fill out for Senate confirmation to lead the spy agency, could cause a problem for him in Thursday’s confirmation hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to be President Donald Trump's secretary of state.
The issue with the Chinese company, which was confirmed in a series of documents obtained by McClatchy this week, never came up during his confirmation hearings last year. Many senators contacted Wednesday were reluctant to comment until they had more information.
Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., a committee member, said he was unfamiliar with the discrepancy, but said it was troubling. “If there's an inconsistency in his questionnaire, that would be a matter of major interest,” Cardin said.
After the story published, a spokesman for Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, the committee’s top Democrat, said committee staff are aware of Pompeo's role with the company and have been in touch with the State Department.
“We expect Director Pompeo to be able to explain exactly what financial entanglement he had with the Chinese government and why he failed to disclose it,” communications director Juan Pachon said.
With Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., opposed and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., out battling cancer, Pompeo needs some Democrats to be confirmed.

Why is it only libtards who seem surprised by the Trump presidency, everyone who voted for him I presume knew they were getting a reality tv star who knew fuck all about politics and diplomacy, I mean his campaign didn't exactly hide this fact. I think he's doing a great job so far, stock markets soaring and no new wars, as long as the dumb fuk doesn't get talked into bombing Syria after the false flag then all continues to be good.
Whoever ends up following Trump is going to be a massive let down that's for sure. We will never have this much fun again and the dude is easily distracted and takes everything personally so that keeps him occupied at home instead of finding new countries to invade that for some perverse reason only Americans seem to find acceptable in the 21st century.
Karma will vent itself on America when Yellowstone blows.
His trade war with China is backfiring on him; so now he's trying to re-join the TPP.
awesome
he is the best POTUS ever
^The US politics (domestic and the international as well) has been all the same over the last 70 years no matter who was the POTUS (TV announcer, lately a Tweeter)...
Trump on TV, he seems to have lost weight
stress with the Cohen raid ? or the Syria bombing ?
Almost all my friends who voted for Trump have said they hope he dies before he gets impeached. This way they can write it off and move on....
I personally find Trump to be an aged mental retard who is clueless but thinks he is just so hip and clever. He argues like a 12 year old school girl. Don't get me wrong, Hillary is a stooge as well. The American people were stuck with voting for the lesser of 2 evils and clearly "Old Comb-over" was just that, The lesser of 2 evils.
