A petitio, eh? The great american democracy . . . . Tell us again how we don't understand the US, Rick . . . or start a petition
Ooops, almost forgot:
It shows that thousands disagree with the verdict whether it was right or wrong. In the mind of the pharmacist he was being robbed and feared for his protection and that of two female co-workers.
I wonder how you would react if two low lifes wanted to rob you at your place of work when you were also responsible for other co-workers. I guess you would just ket them have their way right?
When you are reduced to argumentum ad passiones it's probably best just to admit that you've got nothing.Originally Posted by rickschoppers
QC, maybe you need to do some research on this case before you enter into the debate. It is obvious Necron, who claims he followed the case closely, has not and is asking many questions that would be answered with a little reading.
There are two sides to this debate which is very obvious after you do some research on your own. Just google the pharmacists name and the search engine will do the work for you. It takes two sides to have a debate and Necron is obviously on the opposite side that I am in agreement with.
By the way, there were 10,000 signatures on the petition stating that the pharmacist was wrongfully convicted. Not a small number for a single case within the state of Oklahoma. Another minor fact that Necron has not brought up is that one of the robbers had a gun and threatened the two female co-workers with it. I guess both you and Necron would have just stood by and done nothing.

^^ That makes 10000 nutcases out of 322million people about the average percentage in most countries I would guess , by the way Rick did you sign the petition?
Oz, you are not very good at petitions and their meaning are you? They are done locally and signatures are obtained by volunteers who dedicate their time to a worthy cause. To think you would obtain 322 million signatures on any petition is pretty idiotic. To gain 10,000 signatures on a petition is making a statement that a large amount of people agree with what is written and they are willing to sign the petition and go on record.
All of the attempts here to belittle what the accused did are weak. To side with anti-gun activists in a country where owning a firearm is allowed is very counterproductive. If you all feel so strongly about it why dont you treck on over to the US and join up with some of the bleeding hearts who speak out against gun ownership? Or better yet, you could try and get the 2nd amendment of the constitution overturned. You all might learn a thing or two with regard to what you are spouting crap about.

Maybe they were unclear about what actually happened. The son of bitch deserved to be shot, but once he was neutralized no sane person would go grab another gun and shoot a defenseless person, even if he were a shithead thief.
My little brother used a golf club to beat the tar out of a (very large) asshole he caught breaking into his car in our mother's driveway. I was proud of him for that. I wouldn't have been proud of him had he continued beating on the guy once he was down and not getting up. Waiting for the police to arrive was the right move (and the cops agreed- the very large methhead thief lived to apologize in court before being sent up the river for a spell).
Heat of the moment counts for something so the sentence is arguably heavy, but firing off shots in public at the fleeing robber and executing the unconscious one- those are crimes.
“You can lead a horticulture but you can’t make her think.” Dorothy Parker
He was convicted because the judge and Jury agreed that once the boy had been SHOT IN THE HEAD he was no longer a threat and the castle doctrine no longer applied. They also agreed, like pretty much all of the civilized world since the middle ages and even some parts of the US, that it is no longer acceptable to summarily execute wounded prisoners.
^^
Did your brothers intruder have a gun? If someone were to,point a gun at me, I would empty my clip on them to make sure they did not get off a shot. Both police and miltary train this way and never train to wound which does not make legal or tactical sense say experts.
Damn right it was a heavy sentence for what happened, but the DA had the NAACP down his throat.

heavily armed 16 year old boy executes his family over computer privileges, dies in police shootout......
A TEEN boy has been killed in a US police shootout after allegedly slaying his parents and younger sister for taking away his computer and phone privileges.
Jason Hendrix, 16, of Corbin, Kentucky, was suspected of killing his family execution-style before fleeing his home, and leading police on a high-speed chase.
Baltimore County Police also said Jason shot and wounded a police officer in the shootout after crashing his parent’s green Honda Pilot into a silver sedan.
At least six officers opened fire on Jason, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Maryland State Police said they initially wanted to pull him over for speeding.
The shootout led police to search the teen’s home more than 500 miles away in Corbin.
There, authorities found the bodies of his parents Kevin and Sarah Hendrix and their daughter, Grace, about age 12, Corbin Police Chief David Campbell said.
The father, wearing a sport coat and tie from work, was shot twice in the head, Campbell said. He added that the mother was shot twice in the face and the girl twice in the head and once in the arm.
Jason had fled the gruesome murder scene in his parent’s car, armed with four weapons and a backpack full of ammunition, Campbell added.
He was carrying four .38-caliber handguns, a 9mm handgun and a shotgun, according to police. Two of the weapons — the 9mm and one of the .38-caliber guns — were loaded, police said.
“It’s concerning that any 16-year-old would be driving around with that kind of firepower,” said Cpl. John Wachter, spokesman for the police.
“Nobody should have been running around with that many weapons* unsecured.”
* Geee, Do yah think????? But, but, ...a well regulated militia......2nd amendment.....
Police Chief David Campbell said all the evidence points to Jason being the suspect.
“Right now all the evidence points toward him as being the shooter,” he said.
Police didn’t know why the suspect decided to flee to the East Coast. The family had no relatives in Baltimore, Campbell said.
“We have no clue why he went up there,” the chief said.
As for a motive, Campbell said the teenager was angry at his parents for taking away his computer privileges days before the slayings.
“The mother had talked to a co-worker and told her that he was really mad about that,” the chief said.

Where are the links to what you claim the judge and jury thought, or are you just making this shit up Necron?
^^
Jeez, here we go again.
Police trained to empty their clip???
Police are trained to shoot until the threat stops.
Being already SHOT IN THE HEAD and unconscious usually qualifies as "non threatening"
Military trained to empty their clips?
Only in movies where they have never ending magazines.
I think you are confusing police and military training with expert pharmacists training......
Just out of couriosity Necron, what is the character in your avatar holding?

This time.
The kid that was executed had no gun and was unconscious when he was killed.
Not what happened at the pharmacy. The kid that was executed had no gun and was unconscious when he was killed. The pharmacist had the time to stroll over to another location, pick up another gun and shoot an unconscious man.
NAACP? In Oklahoma? Sure. You're just spouting paranoid nonsense now. If the pharmacist had been satisfied with stopping the criminals and eliminating the threat he'd be fine. Instead he appointed himself judge, jury, and executioner. Can't do that, no matter how much you want to shoot black people. "Ersland will be sentenced July 11, the same day Anthony Morrison and Emanuel Mitchell will be sentenced. Morrison and Mitchell were convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy for planning the robbery at Reliable Pharmacy." Oklahoma City pharmacist Jerome Ersland found guilty of murder in killing of suspect - CBS News
It's a rifle.
I'm not anti gun, I've owned guns of some sort since I was eight. I own guns now.
I just don't carry them in public, don't leave them lying around where unbalanced teens or inquisitive toddlers can access them. playfully fire them at people when I think they are unloaded or use them to execute unconscious people.
Yes, police are taught to shoot centre mass, this is not shooting to kill, it is the highest percentage shot for both hitting the target and stopping it. If they shot to kill, they would train for headshots.
Oh, that explains everything QC. Do you even know what a red herring is? Is that your defense for claiming I am grasping at straws?
It is pretty much impossible to carry on any real conversation with individuals that are anti-gun and anti-American. I know it becomes a game with many on here and I do enjoy games as much as the next person. My opinion on this matter is supported by many others as is your side of the room. Living with anti-gun sentiment has become a way of life for us and it really does not bother me all that much. What does bother me is the petty comments about ones profession or homeland that are meant to just get a rise out of someone. You boys can continue playing this silly game if you like, but for me it is game over. Not really worth my time or effort.
Q. When police shoot someone and they go down do they......
A. Approach with caution and kick any weapon out of reach of the purp?
or
B. Approach with caution and put a double tap into their head, just to be sure?
