I never said she deserved it.
And those aren't the facts.
And that - "for some reason" thought she was an imminent threat - part of your statement is kind of a big deal.

You're looking for a way to mitigate against an unarmed woman who called the cops being shot though. It's like a reflex reaction with you types.
You don't have to be armed to be legally shot by police.
You don't have to be armed to be legally shot by civilians either.
Same goes for you & the reflex reaction.
yeah but it's hard to imagine a 50 yo woman standing in her driveway wearing pajamas as life threatening.Originally Posted by Slick
Not really, I just find the notion that a woman who called the cops and ends up being shot to death in her pajamas by the cops... odd. I'd suggest most people's first reaction would be similar.Originally Posted by Slick
Not yours though. Cos Murica. Cos right-wing gun-totin NRA-spoutin.
She was 40.
And she wasn't in her driveway. She was in an alleyway over 100 yards away.

Hypocrisy is cock-slapping you again.
Unless she was waving something around that looked like a gun, they don;t have much of a defense.Originally Posted by Slick

... so you can't stand "liberalism" (whatever the fuck that means to you) and my comments somehow represent that whole class - i.e. to you a stereotype - and you're complaining about hypocrisy...Originally Posted by Slick

You mad bro?
Cause it looks like you mad, bro.
You're doing that meltdown thing again.
There's gotta be a threat. How else is a woman in her pajamas going to be one...... Maybe she was ranting like a coked out thug and they thought she had a gun stuffed down her shorts.Originally Posted by Slick
Personal experience is they escalate things to a point where they 'need' to take action. She was probably nervous and scared from whatever she heard, the two cops made things worse and things got out of hand. Right now the PD is huddled up behind closed doors trying to figure out how to spin it.Originally Posted by Slick

Not forgetting of course that a large part of the reason cops even wear body-cams in the first place is the sheer number of people they shoot.
Why they were off during this incident is an issue.
It's American cops. They aren't trained very well it seems.
The golden rule seems to be "Shoot first and then find a way to blame the victim later".
yeah, there's that for sure.Originally Posted by harrybarracuda

the pay sucks and in a lot of cases it's a dangerous job....so generally speaking who's going to take that job?
1. former military with no other options
2. knuckleheads with an authoritarian complex
3. a combination of 1 & 2
if cops were paid a reasonable wage and adequately trained, and i think you'd find that eventually the quality of the recruits would improve.
and yes, of course there are some intelligent, highly qualified and competent cops who just want to help people...but don't even try to tell me that they're in the majority.
As fate would have it, I know this woman's family and met her when she was a toddler. Her father, John Ruszczyk, and I were colleagues at the same company in Esfahan, Iran. I remember enjoying a glass of wine with Justine's mother, Margaret (now deceased), in their lovely garden with Justine burbling away on a nearby blanket...very sad...Originally Posted by Slick

^Sounds like she was safer in Iran.
How does someone like that end up in Minnesota?
According to news reports, she was there to marry her American fiance...it occurs to me that Justine, an Australian, may not have been familiar with aggressive shoot-first-in-case-she's-black police officers...Originally Posted by SKkin

Noor joined the MPD in March 2015, and was the first Somali police officer to patrol the 5th precinct in southwestern Minneapolis, according to a city newsletter. He has a degree in economics and business administration from Augsburg College, and worked in property management in Minneapolis and St. Louis, Missouri before joining the force.
Soooo...a Somali shot an Aussie woman.
Mohamed Noor: 5 Fast Facts You Need to[at]Know
A year ago, the arrival of Noor on the Minnesota police force was celebrated by the mayor and Somali community he hails from. There is a pending federal complaint against him, though, by a former social worker from Minneapolis who says Noor and other officers violated her constitutional rights in March by ordering her detention at a hospital after she called 911 to report a drug crime and other issues. You can read that complaint below.
