As optimistic as these boffins might sound, it's not as hopeful as it might sound given the islands they mention are 3,000 miles apart!
Scientists may have found a new way to try and solve the mysterious disappearance of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.
The plane, which vanished without a trace more than ten years ago, on March 8, 2014, had 239 people on board and has become aviation’s most famous mystery.
According to a recent study conducted by scientists from Cardiff University in Wales, UK, underwater microphones are normally used to detect nuclear bomb tests. These picked up a very unusual low-frequency sound. The soundwaves were detected around the time the Malaysian Airlines flight mysteriously went missing in March 2014.
According to the scientists, the sound originated near the Diego Garcia and Crozet Islands in the Indian Ocean. The sound managed to travel a considerable distance underwater. It likely lasted for over an hour.
