think it's a lot more than that figure.
some may be 'free' to take a job working 12 hrs.a day
maybe 5 or 6 hrs. to sleep
time travelling to work and back
    a short break to eat
    do some shopping
    pay the bills
    living in a box-room
no chance of saving a penny
too knackered to enjoy any free time if it's there on a day off
yes, being free to be a slave to survive.
how much quality time does one get ?
    to enjoy.
    in the free world.

If you looked at the % of families in the ME that have 'slaves' then I suspect it would be the highest in the world by a very long distance... Saudi, Qatar, UAE...

Yes, interesting that Africa is represented by just Ethiopia and DRC, and the author has clearly never heard of the Middle East. Ah yes, pimped by the BBC, that explains it.

No need to read the article, just someone earning money under false pretences.

Only 15 or so years ago (maybe 20) the BBC was still good. Now, it is utter shite. I tend to watch AlJazeera for better, less biased reporting and more depth - how fukin sad is that...

Check this out - Saudi Offers “Castrated African Slave” for Sale on Facebook

Where are racist demagogues Reverend Al and Jesse Jackson? No corporation to blackmail? No way to gin up the locals? No way to wet their beaks or line their corrupt and race-baiting pockets?

Where are Sharpton's calls for reparations from the Muslim world? Where are the calls from Black leadership to free the black slaves in the Muslim world? The left condemned our ads (above) highlighting Muslims' vicious and savage slavery of blacks, but are dead silent on slavery. All of those self-righteous left-wing organizations say nothing.

The word for black(s) in Arabic is slave (abeed).

Saudi Offers “Castrated African Slave” for Sale on Facebook Daniel Greenfield, FPM, December 1, 2013

Who says that the Muslim world isn’t modern? Sure they could hold old-fashioned auctions for African slaves. But instead they’re leveraging the power of social media for their slave auctions.
    Peace be upon you …
I have a [male] slave I bought from an African country and arranged for his visa and stay till I got him to Saudi [Arabia]
    His description:
1 – Black skin. Tall 172 sm. Weight 60 kilos.
2 – Castrated (excellent for working with a family) you can check him with a doctor our yourself if you have experience in the matter.
3 – [His] health is quite undamaged and has no imperfections.
    4 – Age 26 years.
5 – Religion muslim and [he is] obedient and will not disobey you except in what displeases God. Please, the matter is very serious and is not a joke.
No it’s not a joke. Saudi Arabia had an estimated 300,000 slaves in 1960. Slavery was then officially abolished, but unofficially continues to exist.

Don't expect too much noise from the aforementioned career race baiters, they make their money by pimping guilt, not honesty and integrity.

Ethiopia? The first country in the world that adopted Christianity as state religion, and home of genital mutilations of girls? Christians are the majority in the other two African countries as well. Can't make a case against Islam here. Try again.

Christians are also the majority in several other countries, though slavery, amputation, stoning and FGM aren't part of their constitution, law, or even culture.

There are some that suggest Ethiopia is the birthplace of Judaism, as well as the Psycho-Christian world.

Yes, but rather than getting two facts and putting them together and making up something untrue, you need to establish the actual facts .
It really is superfluous about whom is the majority in any given place , you need to concentrate on who is actually doing it, rather than who the majority are .

Please enlighten us with the actual facts, Fluke. Where does Islam come in? The BBC article doesn't mention this word, nor Muslims, sharia, Jihad, Al Queda, or other references to it.

Strange that estimates are seemingly so accurate to last single digit.....what a waste of time article. Many major corporations utilise slave labour..how about a list BBC?
