    Blair Comments On London Crime

This may be a controversial topic. Or, maybe not.

Blair blames spate of murders on black culture

    · Political correctness not helping, says PM
    · Community leaders react angrily to comments

    Patrick Wintour and Vikram Dodd
    Thursday April 12, 2007
    The Guardian

Tony Blair yesterday claimed the spate of knife and gun murders in London was not being caused by poverty, but a distinctive black culture. His remarks angered community leaders, who accused him of ignorance and failing to provide support for black-led efforts to tackle the problem. One accused him of misunderstanding the advice he had been given on the issue at a Downing Street summit.

Black community leaders reacted after Mr Blair said the recent violence should not be treated as part of a general crime wave, but as specific to black youth. He said people had to drop their political correctness and recognise that the violence would not be stopped "by pretending it is not young black kids doing it".

Good for Blair for calling it as it is.

    M
r Blair's remarks are at odds with those of the Home Office minister Lady Scotland, who told the home affairs select committee last month that the disproportionate number of black youths in the criminal justice system was a function of their disproportionate poverty, and not to do with a distinctive black culture.

As long as idiots continue to come out with this politically-correct twaddle the longer the problems will continue.

There is an aspect of 'black culture' which celebrates violence and gaudy wealth - most obviously illustrated by gangsta rap.

What's the answer? - Fcked if I know.

That doesn't even begin to start to make any sense.

So Tony has grown a pair, at last. As he's on the way out, I guess he doesn't need the black vote any more. Hard luck, Gordon.

Pardon the ignorance, but when is Gordon coming in? Before the end of the year, still?

And yeah, Blair's comments are likely because he's leaving soon.

I don't know. I try hard not to hear too much about UK politics. One of the reasons I left the place.

This plan is for this Summer I believe, although no date has been set. Gordy is not an automatic shoe-in either; their may be challenger although unless a story emerges that on weekends he dresses as a badger and indulges in train-surfing he should be safe....until the next General Election at least.

Just checked: Blair said on Sept 7 2006 that he would step down within a year.

There are other candidates for the leadership of the Labour party. John McDonnell is more left wing than Brown, and could get a lot of support from party traditionalists and trade unions. Michael Meacher is another, again more radical than Brown, and one of the most experienced politicians here. He's been in senior positions since 1970. Whether they can muster the sort of support that Brown has, I don't know. Perhaps they both carry too much baggage, and Brown has done a fair job as Chancellor, whatever you think of his politics.
The truth is out there, but then I'm stuck in here.

I'm just concerned the blacks waited for Tony to start packing before taking to the streets in armed warfare.
