Well, true to form, Obama is back to that same collective responsibility trumping individual liberty thing. The man is shameless. Who can forget his ridiculous speech where he stated "You Didn't Build That"?

What Obama is doing is twisting the government “of the people, by the people, for the people” into a government that owns you.

His latest speech was summed up by Mitch McConnell:

"It's just such a colossal waste of time and energy _ resources that would be better spent actually working with both parties in Congress to grow the economy and create jobs."

What I thought interesting is how in all the latest "photo ops" he is surrounded primarily by Caucasians. Perhaps he is trying to undo the bad PR generated by his ill-advised "I am Trayvon" whining.

Obama is looking ever more like Nelson Mandela in my opinion. Can't tell Blacks and Asians apart, though. Hope there won't be an Obama cult like there is for Mandela after his abdication, and this fraud is forgotten as quickly as the Bush moron.

Interesting comments coming from a retired, ex-East German soldier.

Nelson Mandela persevered through some really hard times, yet managed to initially lead South Africa into a new era showing compassion and inclusion for all South Africans.

Unfortunately, his vision and leadership were soon overwhelmed by the racial bigotry that permeated so many South Africans, and his party (ANC) became just another group of thugs.

Obama is nothing more than an example of racial "tokenism" carried to the extreme. With no real qualifications, other than being half Negro, he managed to become a two-term President, even though he accomplished basically nothing of substance.

Even his highly-touted health care is proving too unrealistic to put into effect, and most of the provisions keep being delayed until another time.

His promise of a "transparent" government has resulted in one of the most secretive and dirty governments the US has ever had.

I am curious. Who in your estimation would qualify as one of the world's great leaders? Stalin? Hitler? Putin?

Amid the Obama administration's crackdown against whistleblowers, Change.gov, the 2008 website of the Obama transition team laying out the candidate's promises, has disappeared from the internet.

The Sunlight Foundation notes that it last could be viewed on June 8, which was two days after the first revelations from Edward Snowden (who had then not yet revealed himself) about the NSA's phone surveillance program. One of the promises Obama made on the website was on "whistleblower protections:"

Often the best source of information about waste, fraud, and abuse in government is an existing government employee committed to public integrity and willing to speak out. Such acts of courage and patriotism, which can sometimes save lives and often save taxpayer dollars, should be encouraged rather than stifled. We need to empower federal employees as watchdogs of wrongdoing and partners in performance. Barack Obama will strengthen whistleblower laws to protect federal workers who expose waste, fraud, and abuse of authority in government. Obama will ensure that federal agencies expedite the process for reviewing whistleblower claims and whistleblowers have full access to courts and due process.

The White House did not respond to multiple requests for comment on why the page was deleted. The site had offered a way to compare Obama's promises and administration actions and still can be viewed on the Wayback archive.

w/regard to his 'big government', haven't had time to check out Quim's figures that Obama has less Federal Employees than Reagan did although, at first blush, that statement sounds suspect.
