Entwhistle was paid to be the fall guy over firstly the canned BBC programme over Savile and to take the rap for letting the Newsnight expose go to air.

This whole deal over Savile and now McAlpine both reek of "cover-up".

Both issues, Lord McAlpine's predicament and Savile's exposure, being contra-distinct to each other are detracting from the real issue lurking below the surface of the published media, and the smokescreen now in operation is just that, a smoke screen.
