If Libya says they have evidence that this was a pre-planned and coordinated strike why didn't they provide extra security?
Read the rest of my post. Doesn't UN Ambassador Rice think it would have shown true "evidence of our influence and impact" had the US government gotten security straightened out with the Egyptian leadership prior to any protest let alone an attack? It would be foolish to assume a host government's interests will always coincide with ours. Being that it is our government's responsibility to insure the safety of our people.

It's the US State Department's job to establish a relationship and an understanding with the host government so that the host government will guarantee police or military protection of our foreign missions and the people at those sites when needed. Not only that it our government's job to insure that the host country updates the US State Dept of anti-American sentiments.

I presume you understand that is the primary responsiblility of the host country to provide security and protection for foreign missions?
No. it's the primary responsibility of our government to insure the safety of our citizens. That includes using the assets of the host country. We tell them what is required and we make sure it is done. If our govt needs to provide security resources to the host country we do it.

Round and round we go, dancing in circles together.

And then they wonder why I now equate libs with the religious. How can they be otherwise, Their base beliefs are that, beliefs. A hope for a better world divorced from reality. Comes a point in time when you have to stop arguing the same old bullshit in circles and just write them off as deluded, else you'd be doing it for the next 2000 years.

They start in thin air, and stay in thin air. Careful the feet never touch the ground. An effective, albeit spineless tactic.

The process of putting US security boots on the ground requires NSC approval and the approval of the host country. Steven's made the call to go to Benghazi possibly ignoring the mounting deteriorating security situation in that area. We can't just call in the Marines without due process as you are suggesting.

It doesn't indicate whether the attackers had foreknowledge or not, merely the rescuing crowd- but I have yet to hear any indication or evidence that they did. Speculating that it 'might be so' doesn't mean much.

State has it's own in-house security incidentally-
    http://www.state.gov/m/ds/index.htm

I presume the current enquiry will focus on them, both on whether they were doing their job properly, and also whether current procedures etc are adequate for current realities on the ground. Once again, vague allegations of 'cover-up' whilst the enquiry is still likely in it's early stages are both premature and partisan.

I can't help feeling that all this Foxy stuff trying to pin the blame on Obama is because it stung so much that 9/11 happened on GW's watch.

That's not what I said. Security resources could mean we provide their police or military with armored personal carriers, intelligence, eavesdropping equipment.

    Attack During Carjacking

In the early morning of August 6, U.S. Embassy personnel were attacked by armed assailants in a possible carjacking. The personnel evaded the attack and arrived safely at their destination. This event underscores the uncertain security environment in Tripoli. U.S. citizens are reminded to maintain vigilance at all times.

    You're playing semantic games.

We request - they approve or deny. They, meaning the Libyans, have been loathe to allow foreign, armed troops in their country as happened in the situation of a failed state like in Somalia. Libya wants to be seen as being able to cope with their own problems unfortunately they doing a miserable job at it. In this example, standard hand held weapons and eavesdropping equipment etc. would have done little to prevent or repel a mortar attack and torching of the compound.

Heh, check out Bret Baier's Report On Obama's Two Weeks of Benghazi Lies.

Special Report details an up-to-date extensive time line of events from the Benghazi attack to now » The Right Scoop -

Also, why do we have a situation where it's taken 17 days and counting to secure the site?

Only took 21 days from the start of the Iraq War until the fall of Baghdad...

The Libyans have not provided the necessary security for the FBI teams to access the site.

    Lame.

If the site was 'secure' enough for a CNN reporter what we gotta do? Is it too dangerous for some but not too dangerous for others?

^Really? You expect an FBI forensic team to work on the site without security? We all know the partisan shit storm that would ensue if they were attacked by the militant islamists in that area. Then you would be saying that Obama didn't provide adequate protection. Everyone can see this for what it is - a craven and fatuous attempt politicize Steven's death to bolster to failing Romney campaign. This is going to backfire on you and your ilk big time. Again.

    Ilk? Ilk? WTF?

The entire Benghazi fiasco where it was first blamed on a video and now we get stonewalled is supposed to backfire on us ilk? You are seriously delusional. Sure seems like the Obama administration does not want to find answers that could be embarrassing to them. Better to be thought incompetent instead of criminal, eh?

Heh...you keep saying that but the reverse is the more likely outcome. Since the FBI is under the Justice Dept, guess who runs that, eh? And guess what? The State Department is no longer commenting on this incident, as they are awaiting the results of an active FBI investigation.

The country is in the very best of hands...

Now you're playing semantic games. Prove it. Prove that surveillance equipment provided by the US to help insure the security of our diplomats couldn't have detected plans for an attack. You can't.

^Now your argument is that surveillance listening equipment would have prevented the mortar attack. That's wishful thinking at best.

Bottom line is the FBI is being held away from the site because the Obama Administration is afraid of the truth coming out.

"Yesterday's statement from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence is so intentionally vague that it could read as confirmation that our government knew within 24 hours that Benghazi was a terrorist attack and still lied about it for days afterward. And this, my friends, is how a cover up works."

Check out the definitive time line of the cover-up here

This cover-up trotted out by the Obama Administration is, as someone recently said, like watching someone trying to stuff an oyster into a slot machine. Slightly disgusting and ultimately can't be done.

That falls into the 'fog of war' category doesn't it? Top of the list of course would be Eric Operation Fast & Furious Holder wanting to deflect any possible blowback on Obama. The truth shall out...

Whilst I could find no 'time line' at all in that article, I did find many of the readers comments quite interesting, in a mildly horrifying sort of way-

the g h e t t o voters must be made aware that obama will gleefully allow them to be slain by muzzies and others as sure as the ambassador got. Why else was obama arming invading mexican gangsters?

democrats are the filth that destroy EVERY PLACE THEY GO

Democrats, Liberals, Marxists, Communists (whatever this trash calls themselves) are a cancer to society and destroy anything in their path. They must be defeated beginning November 6, 2012!!!!

Obama is running a disinformation operation on behalf of America's enemies.

There's just no plausible deniability here.

It's time for impeachment on grounds of treason.

    Pure and simple.

Stevens was fed to the wolves as a sacrifice to appease the M. B-hood and as a good faith gesture by one Hussein Obama to show that he will deliver the goods..

He is a TROJAN HORSE for Muslim Brotherhood, at which we must admit, he's done an excellent job: he has single handedly destroyed our economy, decimated our military and broken the social fabric of our society. Islam extremists always did say they would destroy us "from within"...and there was Barak Hussein Obama.

Will the eSTAB-lishment Republicans give the Obama Regime cover again, like they're doing on the Fast & Furious debacle?

Update for those following, How to take on the Obama Enemy media: http://paratisiusa.blogspot.co...

the islamist loyalties of this tyrannical Obama cabal have been made well known as we are reminded daily by the government media complex shills.

The Obama Administration and every Liberal shill and Democratic political hack who is defending them on this are reprehensible scum.

Benghazi-Gate Timeline: What the White House Knew & The Lies Told When They Knew It

Not every Republican supporter is barking mad, I hasten to add. Most are not. But those that are (such as our unhinged commentators above) are allowed to make too much noise, without the GOP distancing themselves from them- in fact when we look at the Religious Right and Teabaggers, elements of the republican party downright pander to them, or indeed are one of them. I find it difficult to see the GOP being competitive at national level in US elections until they firmly disassociate themselves from this element. Wisdom of hindsight, but the mid-term elections probably served to drag the GOP further off the rails- and thus helped set up the electoral debacle that is unfolding now.

True, but you have to look real hard to find the odd lefty here and there that might conceivably be classified as a looney, while everyone knows Europe and the US are crawling with right wing loons that are also deluded bigots, racists and Islamophobic Jew lovers.

    Isn't that right, sabang?
