That's the picture of the people who pulled Stevens out of the burning building trying to rescue him. He died of asphyxiation, didn't have any other injuries. What does the pic show according to the right wing? Jubilant Islamists mutilating his body?

The Rethugs need a diversion, primarily because they haven't policies large majorities of Americans like.
If they direct their anger and attention to the attackers, everyone will naturally turn to the Commander in Chief for action. Better to keep attacking Obama, duck, dodge and divert the time away. The 2014 elections may be a turning point, but the gerrymandering for Congrressional seats throughout the traditional heartland may be hard to overcome in many districts.
