dovetails quite well with the Wilson interview with Blitzer. They indicate a man in need of high status in a town where your status means everything.Woodward: Well it was Joe Wilson who was sent by the agency, isn’t it?
Armitage: His wife works for the agency.
Woodward: Why doesn’t that come out? Why does that have to be a big secret?
Armitage: (over) Everybody knows it.
Woodward: Everyone knows?
Armitage: Yeah. And they know ’cause Joe Wilson’s been calling everybody. He’s pissed off ’cause he was designated as a low level guy went out to look at it. So he’s all pissed off.
Woodward: But why would they send him?
Armitage: Because his wife’s an analyst at the agency.
Woodward: It’s still weird.
Armitage: He — he’s perfect. She — she, this is what she does. She’s a WMD analyst out there.
Woodward: Oh, she is.
Armitage: (over) Yeah.
In court cases the truth isn't that important. The objective is to present the most convincing story. If the truth can contribute to the story, that's okay. What ray has conveyed here in his topic is stories by reporters who were following the story the prosecutor was presenting. Stories of a story. It means there is plenty of room to spin a spin. Ray in turn is presenting a story in the form of a topic. How come his topic/story neglected the roll Armitage played in events? How come it doesn't include the question why the CIA briefer, who met with administration members, didn't advise them that Plame had covert status? I would think this is top priority for a CIA briefer especially during a time of war.WILSON: Again, my name didn't appear in the indictment. There are instances of -- and you go to the Spy Museum here, you can see a number of high-profile people who served their country even though they had high-profile positions in different professions.
BLITZER: So you don't have any regrets about the Vanity Fair picture?
WILSON: I think it's a great picture. I think someday you will, too.
BLITZER: It's a great picture. But I mean the fact that ...
WILSON: I think someday it, too, will be in the International Spy Museum.
BLITZER: But you don't think it was a mistake to do that?
WILSON: No.
BLITZER: OK.
Victoria Toensing, former Chief Counsel of Senate Intelligence commmittee, who wrote the Intelligence Identity Protection Act testified Plame did not quailify as covert. She explained how she spent a great length of time hashing out with the CIA what defined "covert" when writing the law.
Waxman's hearing is a joke. He has restricted the types of questions which can be asked in order to protect the country's secrets. Yeah right. If he was so worried he could meet behind closed doors to get at the truth. But no, he wants a public circus. Here's a pic of some gay guy dressed in a pink Jackie-O outfit. He spent two hours on camera with his Impeach Bush Now message written on his t-shirt. At the close of the meeting he started shouting.
The Democrats call for conciliation yet they allow partisan nonsense to go on during hearings. I can't believe Wilson because he is a proven liar. I can't take Waxman seriously because he runs his hearings like a circus ringmaster. He did think of himself as some sort of overlord too. He would ask questions and when the witness began to respond he would talk over them and answer his own question. Asked and answered for the record by Waxman.
One of the lighter moments was when Rep. Diane Watson explained the training she underwent as ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia.
" I was transported blindfolded on a C-130 just like Galactica 3000", she said.
You don't say?

another in a line of attempts at distraction.
this is about valerie plame, not her husband.
she worked for the CIA....and at least 3 high level people in the white house (libby, rove, fleischer) blabbed to the press about her.
her career was destroyed (and her colleagues lives put in danger), because of a recklessly overagressive white house.
and then they lied about.
but go ahead and keep defending them though.![]()

Just jazzing up your topic a bit ray. Ruined career? She still works for the CIA and she has her new status in DC circles as well as her book deal and movie deal so I hear. Nothing like a movie to get the truth out to the people.
Once again I'm not defending Bush and Cheney. I'm giving Wilson a good belly punch.
Concerning your Gonzales topic, did you discuss Clinton firing 93 US attorneys in one day? That's all of them except for one. All of them in one fell swoop. I'd say that qualifies as a purge.
you've certainly got delusions of adequacy.Originally Posted by attaboy

Clinton strawman? People should understand how politics work. Clinton's style magnifies the lesson times 10. It makes it so much easier to understand.

pssst.....attaboy......it starting to appear as if you are afraid to post on the gonzalez thread.
What are you desperate? Is it just you over there? Is there an echoing sound in those two pages you've generated?
libby gets sentenced today.
federal sentencing guidelines recommend 15-21 months.
the real question, though, is whether or not the judge will let him out on appeal.
if he is required to start serving his time immediately, bush will be under tremendous pressure from radical right-wingers to pardon him. if he's freed on appeal and is found guilty (again), bush will be able to pardon him on his way out the door in dec. 08.
^2.5 years in prison, and a 250K fine.He did not set a date for Libby to report to prison. Though he saw no reason to let Libby remain free pending appeal, Walton said he would accept written arguments on the issue and rule later.
Slap on the wrist, but at least there is recognition of a crime.

Well justice has been seen to be done, but it's a bit of a hollow victory.
Everyone knows Libby was the fall guy, though still culpable.
true but (if) when he walks through those prison doors he'll be the first senior white house official to do so since watergate.Originally Posted by sabang

Libby's case is just another in a long string of more Bush-bashing...
^^ Call it Bush bashing if you will, but it's there for a reason Boonie. Several reasons.![]()

So, Scooter gets 2 1/2 years for not remembering when he told a reporter about a non-covert CIA agent.
Ramos and Campean get 12 years for shooting an illegal immigrant drug dealer in the butt.
Sandy Burglar gets... nothing... for stealing classified documents.
12 million illegal immigrants get... legal status and open invitations to bring their families along.
Bush better pardon Scooter soon or I've washed my hands of this present administration.![]()

the link is included in my post.....it's the one that says "plame was covert agent at time of name leak".
your short term memory issues while sometimes humorous, are kind of sad really.
here's the 'money line' from the link...
and here's that link.....AGAINAn unclassified summary of outed CIA officer Valerie Plame's employment history at the spy agency, disclosed for the first time today in a court filing by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, indicates that Plame was "covert" when her name became public in July 2003.
