Given the modern republican record of serial obstructionism and outright vandalism at congressional level, you certainly won't find it there.

that is the irony, isn't it, of Romney claiming that HE will bring bipartisanship to Washington.

Watching the republicans in congress with their scorched-earth strategies makes Thai politics look like childs-play.

If it happens to be true, then that would be about the 8th case of in-person voter fraud in the last 15 or so years. Good thing that your blog uncovered it. Hey, maybe the guy is even really a democrat and not a republican posting BS on FB to make democrats look bad...

^ You got proof for the "8th case"? How about the 1,000s of felons who got Franken into office? Or is that not fraud? Many Mickey Mouses voting as well as folks' dogs & cats.

ask boon mae for the proof, he is the one with this guy's fraud info... As far as I can tell, someone posted the comments to facebook which means didly-squat, could have been a dem, could have been a repub, could have been true, could have been nonsense.

as for minnesota, felons can vote after serving their time.

in-person voter fraud is extremely rare. More common is absentee mail-in fraud. It is hilarious that the Republicans are worried about in-person voter fraud, which more heavily impacts democratic voters, but not about mail-in voter fraud which, surprise surprise, more heavily impacts Republican voters.

Gotta love their integrity on this issue.

The bottom line is that the States need to get their sh@t together on election processes. It should be easy to vote in order to get the maximum participation, and the processes should be reliable and verifiable. We haven't learned anything since 2000... IMHO

btw, in my state, the absentee ballot request was done online, the ballot was sent to me by email, printed, filled out, returned snail mail, then verified that it was received online. That was a good process - the next step would be to just vote electronically and online... There was also a telephone/snail-mail version of the same thing for people not online.

Bob Dylan says he thinks President Barack Obama is going to win a landslide.
Dylan made the prediction Monday night midway through the song Blowin' in the Wind during a concert in the battleground state of Wisconsin.
Dylan spoke to the Madison audience as he was wrapping up his concert that came just hours after Obama appeared at a morning rally in the same city with rocker Bruce Springsteen.
Dylan made his comments during his encore when he said, "We tried to play good tonight since the president was here today."
He went on to say he thinks Obama will prevail today.
Dylan says, "Don't believe the media. I think it's going to be a landslide."
After his comments, Dylan completed the song to the roar of the crowd.

^^ Now Dylan is a pollster.

    Wow. Lost of different views.

I can see Bob Dylan clicking onto real clear and five thirty eight, like the rest of us - but not knowing b/c it is so close.

Bob, please go to bed - or better yet - register on TD to predict, wax whimsical and opine.

Just came from voting for Obama. Felt good. A woman in line behind me said she needed to get her picture ID. She didn't know that you didn't need one, so I told her. She buttoned up her purse. Felt good again.

Polling place looked crowded. Guy who worked there said it had been steady all day, but was picking up as people got off work.

Possibly meaningful progress in the Florida count - 34 per cent of the vote is in - that's 3 million plus - and Obama is ahead of Romney 52-48.

12.05pm: Aussie pollster Mark Textor is telling me via Twitter that the early news out of Virginia is bad for Governor Romney.

The current electoral college vote (you need 270 to win) is:
Obama: 33 (Vermont, Illinois, Connecticut, Delaware)
Romney: 29 (Kentucky, West Virginia, South Carolina, Oklahoma)

Read more: US Election Live Results | Barack Obama v Mitt Romney | Live Video

That much hyped (in certain quarters) Republican landslide does not appear to be eventuating... Florida is interesting- most pundits favored Romney there. Still early days though.

Ohio in Obama's column and it looks like Senator Mitch McConnel, the Talking Turtle, is not going to meet his primary objective: to make Obama a one term president.

Where, Oh where are the conservative pundits on this board. They're as scarce as Mitt Romney.

Good bye, Mitt. We hardley knew ye.

    Why is that?

Heck, towards the end, even FOX turned on Karl Rove, and now all the GOP is pretty much turning on Romney, telling him to shut up.

I think EVERY voter should have a PHOTO I.D. to vote.

Tell me "MrG" why they should not?

    So dead people can vote?

So one person as multiple people can vote?

I don't disagree. Such a rule should be introduced. But it should happen now, valid for the next elections in two or four years.

Changing the rule midgame late during an election campaign or make people believe they cannot vote when they can, just stinks of foul play.

There's nothing wrong in requiring a form of ID, for the very reasons you outlined.

There's a lot wrong with disallowing standard, official forms of ID that are accepted everywhere, and mandating a specific form of ID that you know your opponent's voter demographic usually doesn't have.

W was in the cayman islands as the main speaker for a tax shelter conference literally just days before the vote.

The US doesn't have a national ID law. Some people do not have a photo ID.

I understand what you are saying, but I don't understand why you say that. You know that in-person voter fraud is a non-existent problem. Fraud with absentee voting is a problem that does appear (according to reports - I'm not an expert), and that doesn't get solved with a photo ID requirement.

I voted from abroad. I logged on to my state's web site, gave them my last address in the state, selected one of 2 means of identifying myself - I chose the last 4 digits of my SS number. And they emailed me a ballot that I printed and returned via snail mail. No photo id required. My state managed to figure out that I was legit...

The main point is whether or not a state is able to assure the validity of the voting process.

    Let's look at the numbers.

Verified numbers of voter fraud at the 2008 election - out of 100+ million votes... 98.

That's 98 single votes that were disqualified for being deliberately wrongful.

In the 2012 election, number of people that were deliberately disenfranchised and hindered from voting - 100s of thousands.

Oh right, that - what about the 3 months leading up to that? What about the RNC? (as much as I love Clint Eastwood, the empty chair routine wasn't quite "it")

Like I said, I'd love to see attaboy explain these...

    Interesting rant.

Seems that in-person voter fraud of the kind that would require an ID are hard to find--3 in the past 10 years, or some such ridiculous number. Simply put, it has never been shown that there is a need to make people carry and show an ID to vote.

In the same way, should we require absentee voters to provide a notary stamp. Seems only right if the obsession is to go after people who can't be found and aren't a problem.

A much more insidious problem is what they found Rethuglican hired operatives doing: destroying voter registrations of Democrats. Go to vote...you're not registered. How's that for voter fraud.

Then there's electronic voting. The machines are unreliable, easy to hack, and there is no paper trail. Voter fraud on a mass scale.

Picture ID at the voting station: it's a known voter suppression technique, solves nothing, but sure sounds strong.

Well if you are not required to provide a safe photo ID (meaning one that is very difficult to forge) then they will find no voter fraud since that is very hard to prove.

One of the fundamentals of a working Democracy is the right to vote, (and maybe should be duty to vote) but just as important that only citizens with that right can vote, and vote only once, every western society that calls themselves modern and advanced should, and do most places, provide it's citizens with a safe Government ID or require the use of other forms of safe ID for people being allowed to vote. The US is ridiculous behind on this what really should be a non issue but a natural part of voting.

Obama now has 4 years to fix this problem, issue a safe Government ID for free to everyone wishing to have one, if you then don't take the trouble to get one and bring it to the voting station, it is your own problem and you should not be allowed to vote.

Likewise if you are a nutter on the far left or right that is afraid of participating in society and it's functions, it is up to you if you want to stay of the grid, but with a price to pay in your citizen rights, like getting welfare, voting etc., only fair - if you chose to not be full in, then you don't get all the benefits.

If it was up to me - it would be one man one vote so all votes count in the final result, away with the electorate rubbish, and then it should be made a civic duty to vote, showing a valid government issued ID, and with forinstance a tax penalty for the next year if you do not have an accepted reason for not voting.

The voting percentage in what is claimed to be the pinnacle of advanced Democracy the US is shocking low which is a clear indicator that all is not as good as they themselves think.
