[quote=Splurge traveller;1568919]Quite a few of the locals in Krabi speak Yawi, I am told that it is very similar to Bahasa.
I find Krabi province very attractive too. Although I rarely do backtracking when I travel the kingdom, Krabi and Trang are the exceptions.

I definetly will come back soon , might in X'mas time..
I love Krabi, for many of the reasons above and more.. Most people refer to Au Nang as Krabi but it is just a small part of it, The river cruises, the beaches the islands, the forests, the hot springs, the food the fishing the diving..
Excellent in my books!
I will be travelling from Hat Hai through Trang to Au Nang at xmas. I would like to see Koh Lantra..

Couldn't agree more mate, I've been living down this way for 4 years now and love the Changwat of Krabi. Ao Nang is like a pet abscess on it's arse which we visit occasionally for a meal and otherwise avoid. Fortunately the majority of tourists head there which leaves Muang Krabi rather quieter...
The hot springs before 08:00am is one of my favourite spots as it's usually completely empty at that time, the Tiger Temple (Wat Tham Sua) has an incredible stairway (1237 steps I believe) up to the bid buddah above the temple which is well worth the climb, once again though, do it early, the national park at Phanom Bencha etc, etc...
de gustibus non est disputandum
Last time I visited Krabi I had a wonderful time, even though I was horridly ill at the time. Great place to relax. The bar/nightife scene is there if that's what you're into but it's not in your face. Small enough to walk around comfortably, and a good base to check out the islands.
Just trying to have a little bit of fun, folks, that's all. - Dean Martin
