They've been doing that for years already. A Canadian Guy I knew had his life threatend over a hyped taxi fare.

Hey, been to Thailand 5 times and to Samui twice. This summer will be spending 29 nights in Thailand. To me, paying about $45 for a 20-30 min. trip to and from the airport is disgusting considering the fact that you can fly across the country cheaper than that!

Every time we go to Thailand, we spend a fortune. But to have to pay that much for a transfer is a big "rip-off" in my mind. When you look at the price of lodging and food on the island, it just doesn't make sense or add up. I am sure others would agree.

I know that in Bangkok when you arrive at the airport, there are booths trying to sign you up for an 1100 baht taxi to your hotel. You can also find metered taxis that will do the same job for less than 200 baht. So, I posted to see if there were other options on Samui.

It is a rip off, and i'm sure you'll find that so is food and accomodation as well now. There are obviously exceptions, but Samui has become increasingly expensive, and being turned over with your first transaction is a taste of things to come.
Do a report on here when you have finished your stay on Samui. I have been back twice this year to meet family from England, and will not be going back again because the ridiculous overpricing made me more than a bit annoyed.

If you are so bothered about a couple of hundred baht at the beginning/end of holiday on Samui, then you are DEFINATELY going to the wrong place.
