    Recommend an island down south

So my gig here in the land of the morning clap is pretty sweet - they're giving me 6 weeks paid vacation this summer, and fuck me if I'm going to spend it here in my hovel downloading films and playing Everquest 2. So I'm taking a month and grabbing the g/f and going down south.

Going to start on Koh Phangan in Thong Nai Pan Noi and Hat Yao, then over to Koh Tao. Eventually we'll head over to Krabi and Phi-Phi (I know, I know, but she's insisting since she's never been). But I've got a week gap where I can't decide where to go. I'm thinking of just spending more time on Koh Phangan, but is there anything else that I'm missing? I'm looking at Koh Lanta and Phuket, but I'm sure that the weather will be complete shite in August, so I'd prefer to stay on the Samui side. We just want to stay somewhere on a beach and maybe a pool to relax, read, and drink, without too many tourists. Cheers for any recommendations.

Why not Krabi for a while?
It's very nice, and you'll prolly have island fever by then anyway.

If your looking for solitude and Loooooooong beaches without a lot of folks.

Kho Ko Kao, wonderful quiet place with a couple of smallish resorts.

    North of Kao Lak.

    Jeju Do?

Prefer the mountains myself. Beaches bore me shitless, but don't forget to post some pics and have a lovely time.

^^Jeju is complete shit. According to the Koreans, it's "the best beach uh in the world uh". But it's very very rocky and full of honeymooners. And it's half the price of a ticket to Thailand.

West coast of Phangnan is lovely. Some beaches are good, fab sunsets. Lower-standard accommodations, but so relaxing. Excelent seafood. Also, I like the jungle so Khao Sok National Park may be worthy of at least a week.

Koh Tao for a week? Some excellent snorkeling there.

So.. party party party is it?

If you happen to want a nice little get away to a quiet island with no big party scene try Kho Samed, there are different areas of the island some are nearly 100% farang and other consist of mostly Thais, the ladder is a much nicer relaxing experience.

Have you been there? How's the swimming in September?

I'd recommend Phuket, but the swimming is usually dangerous at times.
