Dear Sir,
My 14 years old daughter have just done a surgery to her ear drum due to 'Retracted Eardrum' by having surgery putting in a 'Grommet Tube' onto her Eardrum.
My question is can my daughter continue do scuba diving?
Looking forward to your reply.
Thank you.

Hey dude, I've been doing a lot of free diving, only shallow stuff to about 30 metres. My problem is that when I get to about 20 metres I feel like I need to piss razor blades. I had the normal tests and all clear but wondering if this could just be a pressure thing?

Mokthar,
Diving with grommets (or any swimming with ears submerged) is not advisable with grommets as it can lead to ear infections and vertigo. Pressure equalisation is also not possible. The eardrum needs to be fully healed and robust before attempting to submerge the ear. I advise a doctor with knowledge of SCUBA diving to check this and confirm healing. You also need to be able to equalise pressure frequently by flexing the (healed) eardrum.
-So I went to the doctor and I said Doctor,
Every time I shake my head like this it hurts, what can I do?
and the doctor said "Don't do that"

But seriously-get a check up don't ask for advice on something like this on the web!-Advice is get a check up from a hyperbaric specialist if possible.
