Obama's Foreign Policy

With all the blind warm, fuzzy, and feel-good fashion that's being alloted towards the President-elect, some will be watching and skeptical about the "boy wonder" and is "progressive" approach to American long and nasty history abroad. If one would care to imbibe into reality and understands how these things really work - expect President Obama to perpetuate the same old American establishment policy. Because, there is really nothing terribly special about his mind set either. American Presidents, regardless of their political ideals and identity, are forced to play this game. One thing that is steeped in the American character...there is always some "new hope" candidate on the horizon and this person will save the day with all their insight and progressive values. President Obama is no worse nor better than any other President down the pike - particularly when it comes to how they see the world and American foreign policy. Same old establishment nonsense....

The guy hasn't even taken office yet and the anti American and US President bashing has already begun. How predictable!

I think first on his agenda he'll appoint high ranking members of Al Qaeda to top cabinet positions. After that he'll put a 90% tax rate on earners over 250k and donate the money to his country of birth, Kenya. At some point he'll kick elderly rich republicans out of their hospital beds to make way for getto crackhead welfare cases.
He'll probably make a pilgrimage to Mecca at some point in his first term as well. I suspect he'll take Israels large aid packages and give them to Hamas, leading to the death of Israel.

after the arrogance and incompetence displayed on the world stage over the last 7 years, the obama administration has its work cut out for it in foreign policy. however, one thing he has in his favor is that many in the international community view his election as an opportunity to heal the wounds and bridge the divides.

I reckon Iran, NK, Hamas, Hezbolah and Alqueada will all suddenly see the bright shinning city on the hill. Happy days. Just keep your head down!

He's inexperienced, his record is humdrum, he's not been pivotal in a single piece of legislation.

I certainly wouldn't be concerned with the inexperience aspect. All first time Prez are inexperienced. One should expect the new President to surround himself with the same apparatus of "experts" and "advisors" that is expected.

Obama will appoint many experienced people in State, DoD, NSC, and have experienced advisers on foreign policy.

Not much will change. BO is however, smart, and is a reasonable.....so far.

How is it that Obama's supposed inexperience is still (or even was in the first place) an issue?

Here's a guy that has taken every chance that life has offered him, seized it, and made every post a winner. Now compare and contrast that to Dubbya, a decidedly average guy who, using daddy's name, has managed to live a life of privilege despite being a failure at almost everything he has ever done; 'figher-pilot', businessman, President.

I'm thinking that this another one of your clever attempts at sarcasm. I hate to let facts get in the way of your world view, but Obama just selected Rahm Emmanuel as his Chief of Staff. That would be R-a-h-m- E-m-m-a-n-u-e-l, an American-Israeli dual citizen who actually left the USA in 1991 to join the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) duing the first Gulf War. If anything, this is the sort of person who might influence Obama to get more involved in fighting some of your above-mentioned organizations for the benefit of Israel. I find this Obama appointment a bit disappointing and disturbing because there seems to be a potential conflict of interest whenever US foreign policy affects Israel.

I don't think anyone has enough experience for that office. What a weight on a man's shoulders. I owned a company and it was a strain just keeping things together keeping customers happy, employees paid and keeping service on topside.

Speaking strictly in terms of the US, I can't imagine anyone's experience being enough to deal with World War 1 and 2, the depression, a Civil War, 911, Katrina, the first WTC bombing under Clinton, Mogadishu and the Black Hawk Down situation, Reagan being shot, the fall of the Berlin Wall, economic, defense, domestic and foreign policies. From George Washington to Obama - no experience is enough to run the US or any countery for that matter. In the US you have 4 years as president - seems like on the job training to be with kudos and laurels had by all.

But this subliminal promotion of "liberal", "progressive", and "change" is just a smoke screen and a deceptive manipulation that most have bought into. Senator Ombama is principally an extension of the Same Old Establishment Club. Watch over time. Observe the Cabinet choices and his true policies.
