Had been getting really crap speeds with azureus/vuze, changed to utorrent and they are better, but still a bit up and down. Was getting 300-500 KB/s yesterday, but I haven't tried any popular/private torrents yet.Quote:

^^unfortunately not, had to buy a laptop for work, came with vista on it and I have to use powerpoint and all that shit:( my desktop is still in Thailand:(
Thought about running dual boot but I've only got 160 GB hard drive and I'm already using most of that.
Nick, Ive got a mate trying to use Ubuntu's Live CD with an Acer 4920 but hes having problems with the wifi. You know anywhere he can find some straight forward info on it?
vista desktop is about 3 years behind ubuntu. you have to buy extra software if you want to change how things look and there's no wobbly windows, no cube, no nottin':(
Don't you have any friends who can come over to your place and help you do the settings?Quote:

Nonsense. How can reading from your router tell you about the bottle-neck getting in & out of Thailand?Quote:

I use bittorrent dns you must forward your port to the router so that incoming downloads will be detected and download at faster speeds......... if you search this you will see what i mean!!!!!!
I have a terrible connection and a slow pc, but it does a reasonable job though i cant watch youtube or buffered streams talking over skype is no problem.
However you can buy software that will compress information making your connection faster, whilst also managing settings for about 20 pounds
you can also find free tutorials of configurating your O/S too........
bugger...I just used the other tester and got 14,640 down to LA and 187 Upload...then this popped up also...
Warning: ISP upload compression was detected. Your upload speeds may be inaccurate.
What it all mean ?
Don't get all defensive about your beloved windows Lom. :kma:Quote:
