With the song writing course and the music learning going so well (kinda...), I've decided to buy a guitar. :) I've done this before, 3 times actually, but never actually got around to playing properly... I've owned 4 guitars before:

One similar to this (not exactly the same, couldn't play it, so gave up and sold it...):

Couldn't play it, so I figured something other than me must be wrong and bought a left-handed one in sunburst (I love sunburst...).

Pretty little thing, fuked if I could play it though... Still have them both and the amp in a relative's loft in the UK... :)

So, thinking that a motorbike in Oman is no good (I'll get one when I get back to Thailand), and needing a hobby, I came across the idea last night of playing the guitar - 5th times a charm! I saw this set in Muscat; like it!

Only 98 rial, that's under 8,000 baht, so jobs a good 'un. Checked with the shop, and they have them in stock; cherry, sounds nice... :) Went onto the web and did some research, seems the guitar is average at best, and the amp is crap... So, checked the shop, see link here,

^ thanks, mate. I aim to. I'm gonna choose 3 songs I like and get them sorted within a month. Then I'm gonna: 1) branch into different genres choosing a few songs at a time (hence the amp choice) to help develop a versatile skillset; 2) try to write a few simple songs to kinda get my ear in and better 'feel' the music.

I will NOT give up this time... :)

^ Hmmm, I have a dream of that by the time I get back to bangkok in June/July, but realistically... :(

If I were you I would forget about the electric option as you can cheat on these things and just play sound, distortion and re-verb and not the guitar.

Buy an acoustic guitar and when you are happy you can play a number of cords cleanly then buy an electric guitar.

Once you can play like this bloke then you can give up your day job.

&, I won't be playing like that fella... Just a few clean cords and an easy tune or 3 is the initial goal.

Start with your pentatonic scales, Betsy, and you'll sound like old slowhand himself after a week.
